Posted below are the Agenda for the next School Governance Council Meeting as well as the Minutes of the last meeting.

Ten minutes are set aside at the beginning of the meeting for members of the BHS community to give comments to the School Governance Council. If time runs out, people can submit further comments and questions in writing to the SGC Chair or Recorder.

Beginning Business Items

•    A Quorum was established
•    Minutes from the last SGC meeting were approved
•    The group went over the working agreements for the meeting; stickies were handed out for members to suggest concrete ways to support the working agreements
•    Peggy Scott was the process observer/Miranda Thorman was the timekeeper

Public Comment
10 minutes were allocated for comments from members of the community.

BSEP Presentation
Monica Thyberg and Mary Hurlbert from the BSEP Office gave an overview of the BSEP program for the members of the School Governance Council.  A discussion followed where questions from the Council were answered.

Motion: To extend the discussion of the item by 3 minutes.
Decision: Motion is passed; 2 abstentions, 2 thumbs down

Principal's Update
Principal Jim Slemp gave an update on the following items:
•    May 1st will be the start of construction on Jacket Stadium – Phase I
•    Teacher Input Forms due
•    Girls Basketball advancing in NCS playoffs
 
WASC Update
Principal Jim Slemp gave an overview of the WASC (Western Association of School and Colleges) process and the upcoming plan development and visit that will be happening in SY 2010-2011.

Berkeley High has a 6 year WASC accreditation and will have a team visit that will be reviewing the WASC plan and its implementation at Berkeley High.

Berkeley High School Development Group Presentation
Jennifer Burroughs gave a presentation on the Development group which is a non-profit fundraising group that supports Berkeley High.

The Development Group allocates money through grants that staff and students can apply for.

PD Presentations
This item has been moved to the next SGC meeting that will take place on March 23, 2010.
