ADMINISTRATION

*1. BART tickets for February are here. Please pick up your tickets at
lunchtime only in room D224.

2. Willard Mathworks will start again Tuesday, February 23rd from 4-5 pm.
Training for new tutors will be Tuesday, February 16th. Contact
Willardmathworks at gmail.com.


CLUBS

1. Soul Food BBQ Club this Friday at lunch on the campus green.  Ribs,
Collard Greens, and Mashed Potatoes, Mac and Cheese and Black Eye peas...Get
your plate!!!  You don't want to miss this feast.

*2. Black Scholars Club Meeting, Friday, February 5th in the College Center
right after school.  Short meeting to discuss upcoming events. 

*3. Black Scholars Host: Brown Paper Bag Lunch, February 9th at lunch in the
College Center.

*4. Berkeley High Fashion Club is looking for guy and girl models of all
shapes and sizes.  We are planning to have a Spring Magazine also a Fashion
show at the end of the year.  Bring all your hot friends and be ready to
work it.  Meeting is February 10th in room C326 at 3;45 pm.  Contact Taryn
Riewer or Gena Bowman for details.  Hope to see you there!

*5. Come to the Community Theater steps at lunch to purchase your valentines
grams for your friends, sweethearts and secret admirers!  Only $1.50 each,
proceeds go to support BHS social group.

6. For the very first time, the BHS Chorus Club, with the assistance of the
Berkeley High School Development Group, is offering a prize of $250 to the
best original song written by a student. Entries must be submitted by 5pm
Feb 28 2009.  The winning song will be performed as part of the June 1
concert of the BHS Chorus.  Entries can be in the form of written music OR
CD / other computer music file OR  DVD/other video format.  Send entries to:
BHS Songwriting Competition, c/o Mr Scott Dailey, Room A206H, Berkeley High

7. APIC is hosting its Lunar new year Gram Sale!  Sales are from the 2nd
until the 9th.  A gram is a lucky gold or red packet filled with candy and a
personalized message all of which will be hand deliver to a period of your
choice.  Grams are fifty cents each and the proceeds will be donated to the
Haiti relief. Effort.  Sales will be at lunch in the C gallery on the 3rd
floor and the senior steps after school.  We will deliver them on the 11th.
Get your gram and spread some new year's good fortune.

8. Help end Human Trafficking! Come to Club Reach every Wednesday in C217
and help to raise money for the elimination of slavery world-wide and in our
community. REACH out to help others in need.

9. Build On is having a book drive for elementary school students!  Please
bring new or gently used children books to your 2nd period classes.  The
class that collects the most books will win a prize!!!  Thank you.


SPORTS

*1. Athletic packets, including current physicals, MUST be turned into the
Athletic Director's office this week.  The paperwork, along with semester
grades must be cleared BEFORE February 8th, the first day of tryouts.  If
your student turned in the athletic packet/current physical for fall or
winter sports, then all they need is a new emergency card for the spring
sport.

2. For all interested in playing Girls Lacrosse, there will be an
informational meeting at lunch on Friday. We will meet at the metal
bleachers on the BHS turf. See you there!  For more information, contact

*3. Track & Field boys and girls begins on Feb. 8th after school at 4:30.
Meet coaches Darel Hampton and Brian Bort and the rest of the coaching staff
out on the east side bleachers by the track. Think you're fast? Prove it.
Want to get faster? Then it's time to go to work. Be a part of the new
tradition at Berkeley High, all comers welcome.

*4. Boys Volleyball Players- There will be a meeting of all new and
returning boys Volleyball players on Friday, February 5th at 3:30 pm at the
Athletic Directors office.  Details about practices will be given out.  Come
and meet your new coach.

*5. Boys tennis- first informal meeting on Friday, February 5th at 3:45 pm
in the food court.

6. Spring sport tryouts start Monday, February 8th.  Tryout locations &

SENIORS

*1. Senior yearbook pages are for sale until Feb.20.  Come to H102b 7th
period.  $180 for 1 page, $350 for 2 pages

*2. Senior poll winners: come take your pictures in H102b this week.  You
can still buy your yearbooks at myyear.com  We have almost sold out!

FOR ALL STUDENTS

*1. Financial Aid Workshops will be in the College Career at 3:30 pm.,
Tuesday, Feb 9th


EVENTS/PERFORMANCES

*1. Come see the Vagina Monologues! This Friday and Saturday at 7pm in the
Little Theater. You don't want to miss this show.  Tickets on sale at
brownpapertickets.com.  Proceeds go to helping end violence against women in
the Bay Area and the Congo.  Show runs Friday and Saturday nights, through
Feb. 12. 

2. WinterBall!  It's this Saturday!  Tickets are still selling in the
Athletic box office until after school on Friday.  Tickets are $35.  Tickets
will be sold at the steps also-$35.  Get yours today!  Cupid's ball is
February 6th.  All WinterBall ticket buyers must have your student ID to buy
a ticket, not just a printout.  Get a new ID from the counseling office for
$10 or its free if you haven't gotten one yet.  

3. Are you taking a guest to Cupid's ball?  If so make sure you turn in your
guest pass FULLY COMPLETED to the leadership office.  They are due
Wednesday.  No Guest Pass, no guest.  So get your guest pass in now.
Cupid's Ball is this Saturday!  Bring all your friends.

4. Crab Feed Fundraiser for Rise Program, will be Friday, February 5th,
6-8pm in the BHS Cafeteria. Tickets can be purchased in G111, $35.00 adults
and $25.00 children (12 yrs and under).  All you can eat crab, pasta, salad
and bread. Live Entertainment.  RISE is an academic support and college
preparation program for low-income Berkeley High School students that reside
in West and South Berkeley.


5. Come join the fun every Wednesday night at Berkeley Youth Alternatives -
Teen Night, 6-8 pm.  Activities include: 3 on 3 basketball tournaments
(indoor); shooting pool and x-box tournaments. Contact (510) 849-1406.

JOBS

1. A Latin tutor is needed for a freshman Latin student. He will need a
meeting 2-3 times a week for about an hour. The pay is $12 per hour. Contact
