The BHS Student Leadership Team has put together a "Relief for Haiti" fundraiser. The goal of the fundraiser is $8000 - about $2 for every person on the Berkeley High campus. Over 75% of the Haitian population struggles to live on less than $2 per day. The slogan of this fundraiser is "Where Humanity Struggles to Live, Berkeley High Steps up to Give."

There are two ways money is being collected:
1. Online at: http://act.pih.org/page/outreach/view/haitiearthquake/BHShelpHaiti
This is a BHS-specific fundraising site set up through Partners in Health.
2. On-campus: Change, cash and checks can be brought to the Leadership Office, solicited by student leaders at lunch or after school or be gathered in 2nd period classes.

Money collected on campus is deposited in the Global Relief Fund account managed by BHS Bookkeeper/Accounts Manager Bobbye Reed. The money collected both ways goes to Partners in Health. PIH has been chosen because of their long history of excellent, effective work focused in Haiti. Learn more here: http://photos.pih.org/home2.html

If you would like to send a check with your student to school, please write it out to "BHS Global Relief Fund." There is no competition or prize here for the 2nd period classes. The emphasis is around the educational goal of students seeing the power of what can be achieved when we work together, and practicing compassion and empathy for other human beings in an interconnected world.

Again, at any time donations can be brought to the Leadership Office (just down the stairs from the main entrance of the school on the left side as you enter the cafeteria).

Thanks again,
