Below is the latest Club List with  the following new additions: Black
Student Union, Earphone English Club, Environmental Club, Four Pawz
Foundation Club,  Historical Fiction Book Club,  Math Club, MESS, Model
United Nations, Writer's Connection. 

For contact information, please drop by the Student Activities Office right
off the Food Court or ask the Front Desk Volunteer for the Club List excel
sheet. 

1. Athlete to Athlete Tutoring. Meets Monday and Wednesday after school in
C224 and C219. Mission: The club focuses on the student-athlete though peer
tutoring between a BHS honor roll athlete and a BHS athlete on the verge of
ineligibility. 

2. Asian and Pacific Islander Committee. Meets Thursday lunch in room C334.
Mission: To strengthen the Asian American community at BHS and to celebrate
Asian heritage throughout our community.

3. Baking Club. Meets Wednesday lunch the week of Friday BBQs once a month
in room C213.  Mission: To raise money by providing baked goods for the
student body alongside the BBQ Club.

4. Barbecue Club. Meets 1st Friday of each month in the Courtyard. Mission:
To provide Berkeley High students with a tasty burger and an electric
atmosphere.

5. Berkeley High School Mountain Bike Club. Meets Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday, and Sunday at various locations. (contact Student Representative
Chet Mahoney at chetcandrive at gmail.com for locations.)) Mission: To interest
and provide the opportunity for high school students to engage in
alternative forms of team sports and exercise. 

6. Berkeley High Ultimate. Meets Tuesday 6 to 8 pm and Thursday from 4 to 6
pm at Derby Field and BHS track. Mission: To give anyone who wants a chance
to experience the fun-spirited and competitive game of ultimate Frisbee. 

7. The Bicycling and Spoken word Poetry Club. Meets Mondays at 3:35 pm  at
Alston and Milvia. Mission: To explore the correlation between vigorous
exercise and spoken-word poetry.

8. Black Scholars. Meets Mondays 3:30 to 4:30 in D221. Mission: To create a
unified group of students of African American background interested in
developing academically. 

9. Black Student Union. Meets Tuesdays at lunch in Room 214.  Please see Mr.
McKnight for details. 

10. Bridge the Gap. Meets Wednesday at lunch in C311. Mission: Bridge the
gap attempts to help close the achievement gap by providing struggling
students with a place to go for academic help. 

11. Build On. Meets Tuesday at lunch in room D218.  Mission: Build On is a
nationwide organization that does community service in their area and raises
money to build schools in developing countries

12. Chess Club. Meets Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:45 in Portable 7. Mission.
Play Chess.

13. Chorus Club.  Meets Tuesdays AND Thursdays at lunch in A201 to learn
songs for performance, PLUS Vocal Improv meets Tuesdays 4-5.30 for an
awesome and unique workshop that teaches singers how to really use their
voices through circle singing and improvisation games (with Trelawny Rose
from the Jazzschool), PLUS Vocal Jazz is a  voice ensemble for experienced
singers only that meets MWF 4.30-5.30 in A201.  

14. C.O.V.E. (Cetacean Organization JVs. Extinction). Meets Tuesdays at
lunch in Room G212. Mission: To raise awareness and fundraise for animals
vs. extinction operations around the world and to talk about political
issues surrounding animal extinction and the human interference.

15. Creative Writing Club. Meets Thursdays at lunch in room C135. Mission:
To give students a venue to casually show their writing and receive serious
feedback and critiques. 

16. Double Dutch Club. Meets Thursday at lunch in G306 and the track.
Mission: The Double Dutch Club's purpose is to support the athletic and
physical growth of students in BHS while integrating a multitude of
personalities in between two ropes.

17. Earphone English Club. Meets Wednesdays at lunch in room C116.  Mission:
For English language learners we have a large collection of Audio books,
plus players for you to borrow and hear-science fiction, thrillers,
romances, adventures and more!

18. Eco Community. Meets Thursdays from 3:45 to 4:45  in G207. Mission: Eco
community educates people on environmental issues that effects the world and
the community. We would also like to reach out to people in our community. 

19. Eco Jackets. Meets Tuesday at lunch in C125. Mission: To make the BHS
community aware of pressing ecological and global warming issues.

20. Engineering Club. Meets 1st Friday of every month at lunch in room G207.
Mission: To educate students about engineering and related fields. 

21. Environmental Club. Meets Thursdays at lunch in G209. Mission: To raise
awareness in addition to making improvements at Berkeley High in order to
become a more eco-friendly community. 

22. French Club. Meets Fridays at lunch in C106. Mission: To let students
learn more about French culture.

23. Film Club. Meets Fridays Thursday at lunch in C311. Mission: To
introduce people to watching films and help those who already watch films
expand their knowledge and repertoire.

24. Four Pawz Foundation Club. Meets Thursdays at lunch in room C326. For
all animal lovers at BHS. To help animals in need by fundraising and
volunteering for local shelters and rescue groups. Volunteering not
required. 

25. Harp Club. Meets every other Thursday at lunch in Conference Room A.
Mission: To plan upcoming performances which will be at hospitals,
retirement homes, etc.

26. Harry Potter Club. Meets Thursdays at lunch in Mr. Becker's room.  To be
nerdy and worship Harry Potter. 

27. Hebrew Speakers Club. Meets Wednesdays at Lunch at Baja Fresh Mexican
Grill. Mission: To discuss Jewish current events and speak primarily in
Hebrew.

28. Historical Fiction Book Club. Meets Thursdays at lunch in Room C213. To
read and discuss historical fiction outside of the classroom.

29. Independent Theater Projects. Meeting times TBA in room C213. Mission:
Independent Theater Projects, or ITPs, is currently in its 15th year as a
completely student-run endeavor. Students are in charge of booking a
theater, directing, casting, producing a, and acting in three short, one-act
plays. 

30.  Italian Club. Meets Tuesday at lunch in Portable 11. Mission: This club
will focus on Italian Culture.

31. Judo Club. Meeting times not set yet but will meet in the Wrestling
Room. Mission: To teach judo, practical self-defense and a competitive sport
to everyone who wants to learn. 

32. Key Club. Meets Mondays at lunch in C115. Mission: The Key Club focusers
on community service by participating in events such as AIDS walk in SF, the
Holiday Meal, and helping the Alameda Food Bank. 

33. Kiva Club. Meets Mondays and Wednesdays at lunch in room C232. Mission:
The Kiva Club uses the website kiva.org to make micro loans to struggling
entrepreneurs around the world.  Our mission is to educate others about
global poverty and one way to help solve poverty. 

34. Knitting Club. Meets in the library Fridays at lunch. To knit (and learn
to knit.) 

35. La Raza Club. Meets Tuesday at lunch in the library. Mission: Our club's
purpose is to show our fellow classmates and the whole entire school our
Latino culture.

36. LGBTSA. Meets Wednesday at lunch in Room H102A. Mission: To create a
safe space for anyone (especially lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender youth
and their allies) so that people can talk about what's bothering them.

37. Massage Club. Meets Wednesday at lunch in C224. Mission: Massage and
stress relieving in the most stressful days of the week.

38. Math Team. Meets Fridays at lunch in room H205.  To study for AMC. To
help students in advanced math. To compete. 

39. MESS. The Math Engineering/Science Society meets every Friday in G207 at
lunch.  

40. Model United Nations. Meets Thursday at lunch in room C127. Model Un
immerses students in global issues and politics by simulating the UN. 2-3
conferences a year to debate, make speeches, write resolutions. 

41. Multicultural Student Union. Meets Tuesday at lunch in C213. Mission: We
want a place where multicultural students have a place to be who they are
and not have to choose.

42. Quiz Bowl. Meets Tuesday at lunch in C102. Mission: We will represent
BHS in academic knowledge tournaments against other high school around the
Bay Area and possible beyond. 

43. Reach. Meets Wednesdays at lunch in Conference Room A. Mission: Our
club's mission is to end slavery across the world. Raising money provides
necessary supplies such as educational aid and other resources to help
former slaves earn a living once they are freed.

44. Reading Buddies. Meets Mondays and Wednesday 4:30 to 5:15 at Washington
Elementary School. Mission: BHS students committed and passionate about
helping elementary level students learn how to advance in reading and
reading comprehension skills.

45. Rock, Soul, and Jazz Club. Meets Wednesday and Thursday at 3:30 to 4:30
p-.nm. in room H109. Mission: To give students access to musical
instruments, opportunity to practice rhythm and sight reading leading to
possible performance or auditioning into band or jazz ensemble. Wednesday
for beginners, Thursday for advanced. 

46. Science Club. Meets Thursday at lunch in room G305. Mission: To help all
struggling science students, AP or otherwise, not fail.

47. Taste of Culture. Meets Tuesday and Thursdays at lunch on the senior
steps. Mission: To bring all females from different races together with
different food backgrounds to show other races what their foods are like.  

48. The UNICEF Club. Meets Tuesday at lunch in C205. Mission: To educate
students on poverty in other countries, help other countries by sponsoring
fundraisers. 

49. The Women's Literature Club. Meets Thursday at lunch in Room A05.
Mission: to hold weekly discussions about literature written by women/about
women protagonists and relate the ideas in the text to the larger world.

50. Women's Rugby. Meets Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 to 6 pm. on the
track. Mission: To get more BHS girls interested in the wonderful sport of
rugby.

51. Writer's Connection. Meets Tuesdays from 4 to 5. To form a connection
between students at BHS and King Middle School to help the younger students
with writing skills 

52.  Youth for Christ Club. Meets Tuesday at lunch in C311. Mission: a safe
environment for Christians and non-Christians alike to discuss God, Christ,
and the Christian faith.
