STUDENT LEADERSHIP PROGAM
The schoolwide student leadership program is growing to more fully
represent and empower students on decision-making bodies, improve
student culture, and expand their capacity to serve the school and
greater community. We need artists, altruistic types, webmasters,
speakers of languages other than English, Obama or Hillary wannabes,
photographers, movers, shakers or a talented student who can use the
invigoration of working with a dynamic team!
To be a part of this special program means students will get direct
instruction and challenges on leadership skills development,
opportunities to attend leadership conferences and retreats, and the
unique experience
of being part of a team striving for professionalism and collaboration
that mimics the real working world in many ways. Of course it is also a
great resume builder.
Chris Young, the new leadership program director is a Stanford BA and MA
graduate who uses his own high school, college, and lead teaching
experience to educate and motivate students towards new levels of
responsibility, self-confidence, and ability to work effectively with a
diverse group of other people. We want students of all types to apply
with the expectation that this can be an experience that positively
impacts and shapes the course of their lives.
Students are encouraged to pick up an application in the Leadership
Office,
D148. They are due on October 23. This application includes
descriptions of all the positions currently open listed below. Other
positions include representatives of the various SLCs and programs, and
a student council of judges that will practice constitutional review
will be open later.
