STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN
April 27, 2009           

ADMINISTRATION

1.  Free tutoring available for all levels of Latin, on Tuesdays and Thursdays in C105.

2.  Students please sign up for AP Language and Literature.  Pick up the summer reader in C205 during lunch! (Ms. Tammer’s room)

*3.  BART tickets orders for the month of May will be taken on Monday, April 27th and Tuesday, April 28th at lunchtime only in D224.  Ticket price is $16 each for a $32 value ticket.  Cash only, no checks and please bring exact change.  A maximum of 4 tickets can be ordered per month.  No ticket orders will be taken after April 28th.  
                   
CLUBS

Are you interested in joining the Berkeley High Jacket?  Well you might just be in luck!  The Jacket currently has a number of positions open on the 2009-2010 ed board, including web editor, multimedia editor, copy editor, and business manager.  If you are currently a freshman, sophomore or junior and think you might be right for one of those jobs, please send an email to charlottew at bhsjacket.com or drop by room C213 on Mondays at lunch.

FOR ALL STUDENTS

1.  Exploring College Options - Student/Parent Information Sessions on Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn and Stanford.  Tuesday, April 28, 7:30 pm, Oakland Asian Cultural Center, 388 - 9th Street, Oakland.  RSVP at www.exploringcollegeoptions.org

2.  SAT/ACT TEST DATES -- May 5 is the regular registration deadline for the June 6 SAT and SAT subject tests. May 8 is the regular registration deadline for the June 13 ACT.  These are the last tests offered before September 2009.  Fee waivers for low income students are available in D221.

*3.  Parents Education Network is hosting EDUCATION REVOLUTION 2009!  This is an event for students who learn differently, and all others who support them. Find out about cool careers. Participate in contests, promotions, and afternoon activities. All students are free. Scholarships are available for all others. SUMMER ACTIVITIES

The Museum of Children's Art in Oakland is seeking high school age volunteers for the summer arts day camp apprentice program. Volunteers should be interested in working with young children (6-10 yrs) and art. During camp, volunteers will assist the art instructors and supervise campers during recess and field trips.  Camp runs June 15-Aug 21. Volunteers work half-day shifts for a minimum of two weeks of their choice during the summer. EVENTS/PERFORMANCES

1.  Senior prom tickets are $65.  Buy your tickets in D173.  Guest passes
are available in D148.  Prom is May 9, 2009.

2.  World Premiere of an original musical written by BHS seniors Nathan Kersey-Wilson and Abby Simons!!  The musical is called DOUBLE DIGITS and follows a group of students who must cast aside their differences when power at their school is abused for treacherous ends.  DOUBLE DIGITS is a witty, heartfelt story with a gorgeous score.  Come see your fellow students perform in this fun high energy show this Friday and Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 2 pm in the Little Theatre. The cost is $6 for BHS students and staff. Don't miss this student written, directed and performed musical world premiere!

3. WANT TO BE PART OF ONE OF BROADWAY'S BIGGEST HITS? YMTC announces auditions for its fall production of A CHORUS LINE.  Calling all dancers, singers, and actors. Auditions (by appointment) May 11 - 13. For more information, checkout www.ymtcberkeley.org.  Tuition assistance available.
