All incoming 9th graders must take a math placement test. Students currently enrolled at King, Longfellow, or Willard will take the test at their current school, so this announcement is only for all INCOMING 9th GRADERS NOT CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN A BERKELEY UNIFIED MIDDLE SCHOOL.

The math placement tests will be administered on Monday, April 27 and Wednesday, April 29 from 4:00-6:00 in the Gallery of the Community Theater on the Berkeley High School campus.

Incoming 9th grade students with last names A-L should attend Monday, April 27 and students with last names M-Z should attend Wednesday, April 29 if at all possible.

The placement test will cover the California Algebra 1 standards and will have some free response questions to help measure mathematical reasoning and problem-solving. Calculators are not permitted.

Placement into Honors Geometry or Honors IMP 2 is based on scoring "Advanced" on the placement test. Placement into Math Support classes will also be partially determined by this test.

Please contact Math Department Co-Teacher Leader Amy Burke at Amy_Burke at berkeley.k12.ca.us with any questions.
