BERKELEY HIGH SCHOOL RISE FUNDRAISER "CRAB FEED" EVENT

As many of you are aware, this country and in particular the state of California is facing a recession. There have been many educational cuts that have impacted our program. For the last two years, our program has been cut $25,000.00 each year. In January of this year our program director presented at the commission hearing for the city of Berkeley. The purpose of this hearing is so the commission of Berkeley determines how much money our program will be given for the next two years. We are hopeful our program will not be cut, however, the difficult situation the state and the rest of the county is facing will have an impact on the funds available to the programs in Berkeley.

It is our goal to keep the RISE program running the way it does now.  The cuts so far have made us change some of the characteristics of the program, but we do not want to sacrifice anymore. We are taking a pro-active role in keeping our program running strong. Similar to the fundraising event we held last year, our program will once again host a "crab feed."

To help our program we ask that you join us for this fundraising event. The tickets are $35.00 for adults and $25.00 for children 12 yrs and under. Please keep in mind that the funds obtained from this event will be used to help keep the program running the way it does now.
