Seven Important Dates for Incoming Families of Current 8th Graders
Below you will find seven important dates for incoming families. The
first, Tuesday, January 13, is for ALL families (public, private,
homeschooled, etc.). It is the essential first step in the process of
signing up for classes for the class of 2013. Following that are
three evening meetings for parents whose children are currently
enrolled in the BUSD feeder schools (King, Longfellow and Willard)
and three evenings for parents and students who are coming to
Berkeley High from a non district middle school.
1. Tuesday, January 13, 2009
Incoming 9th Grader Information Night, January 13, 2009, 7 to 9 p.m.,
Community Theater at Berkeley High School
This night is designed to provide students and their
parents/guardians information on the excellent choices that will be
available to them when they register for classes for the 2008-2009
school year. All six small learning communities will give an overview
of their program in the Community Theater. In addition, students and
parents will then have the opportunity to attend presentations from
our various departments (Math, PE, World Languages, Science), our
academic support programs, and the numerous athletic and club choices
available to students.
Please be aware that parking is very difficult and the event will
start promptly .
2. FOR ALL STUDENTS COMING TO BHS FROM B.U.S.D. MIDDLE SCHOOLS:
Representatives from Berkeley High School will visit each of the
three BUSD middle schools to conduct the scheduling process. This
process includes a daytime student assembly where current BHS
students will discuss their experiences with middle school students.
Later that evening, administrators and counselors will give a brief
presentation to parents, in both English and Spanish, which will
review the program choices at BHS. During that same week, high school
counselors will come to the middle schools to guide students through
the course request and program selection process.
