Special Note: This is a Parent Education Event and not for students

We are so pleased to have already heard from so many BHS parents and 
guardians that  you plan to attend next week's important parent 
education event!   Whether or not you RSVP, please join us.  If you 
know you are coming, let us know so we can make sure to have the 
right amount of chairs set up ahead of time.

The PTSA and the BHS Development Group have worked together to 
provide parent education on topics of concern to many BHS 
families. Please be sure to join us for this important topic.

Drugs, Alcohol and Teens
Date: Thursday, November 13, 7:00 to 9:00pm
Presentor: Sally Cohen, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Location: Library, Berkeley High School

Sally Cohen has been facilitating teen substance abuse groups and
doing individual therapy with adolescents for over twenty years.  She
has worked at high schools throughout the Bay Area and is currently
developing a substance abuse program at BHS where she leads substance
use/abuse therapy groups. She has supervised graduate students
attending JFK University as well as interns at Berkeley Mental
Health.  Currently she is on the faculty at the Women's Therapy
Center.  She is also in private practice in Berkeley where she works
with adolescents, couples, and adults.   Ms. Cohen will be discussing
adolescent substance use and helping parents differentiate between
recreational use and dependence.  She will also talk about  what
parents can do to help their teen and present various treatment
options. There will be time at the end for questions and discussion.

ALL Berkeley High School parents and guardians are warmly invited to
attend.
