STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

*New to the bulletin today

ADMINISTRATION

*1.  Spirit Day- Seniors wear 80's / 90's clothing.  Underclassmen-Pajama Day!

*2. Please bring your Senior polls to H102B during 7th period.

3.  Summer Study abroad with ECI!  In Spain, 
France, or Costa Rica you can take classes at 
leading language schools, earn 3 units of 
university credit, have fun and make new friends 
while traveling and experiencing another culture 
and language.  Informational evening meeting, 
November 6th in Room G210: France (7-8 pm), Spain 
and Costa Rica (8-9 pm).

CLUBS

*1. If you are into the Asian Culture, if you 
like to make new friends, or if you just want to 
feel more Asian, come to the Asian and Pacific 
Islanders Committee today at lunch in room C335.


SPORTS

1.  The Athletic office is currently accepting 
completed sports packets for the winter sports 
season. You must be cleared by the Berkeley 
Athletic Department by Nov. 10th which is the 
first day of winter sports tryouts. Your 
completed sports packet must include a signed and 
stamped physical from a doctor. Sports packets 
can be picked up in the athletic office during 
lunch and immediately after school.
Remember "no clearance, no tryout!"

*3. Wrestling Try-outs~begin on Monday November 10 at 4:30 in the Old Gym.
Anyone interested in joining the wrestling team come to try-out or talk to
Mr. O in the Athletic Office.


FOR ALL STUDENTS

1. Violet Richardson Award of the Soroptimist 
Club -- Award of $1,000 to a young woman 
currently between the ages of 14 and 17 who has 
demonstrated initiative in both identifying a 
problem and trying to solve it and who has had 
significant and noteworthy accomplishments as a 
volunteer. Application available in D221. 
Received deadline:  December 1.

*2. World Affairs Council is sponsoring the International Career Mentor Night
on Thursday, November 20, 6:00-8:00 pm.  This is an opportunity to speak
with Bay Area professionals in international development, journalism,
foreign service, education, law, business and global health.  Space is
limited.  Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.  Applications
available in D221 and at

*3. Want to study abroad? Youth for Understanding and World Affairs Council
awards annual scholarships to high school students (only) who want to
study abroad for the summer, semester or year. Come to this information
session to learn more about the 2009-2010 YFU study abroad programs and
meet former Council scholarship winners. Tuesday, December 2, 2008 6:00

FOR SENIORS

1. If you are applying to any colleges which 
require a counselor recommendation, your 
envelopes, secondary school report forms and 
transcript request forms are due in the 
College/Career Center no later than November 7. 
These are NOT needed by the UC's and Cal States. 
You will need:
1.  A signed Transcript Request Form (available 
in D173 and in the College/Career Center) for 
each school.  If you are under 18, your parent or 
guardian must sign it.
2.  Secondary School Report form for each school 
(this comes with your college application). 
These may also be called the Counselor 
Recommendation form or the School Report form.
3.  Large envelope (9 x 12 inches) addressed to 
each school with Berkeley High School as the 
return address.  Put 3 stamps on the envelope 
($1.17).
4.  Clip the forms for each school to the outside of each envelope.
5.  Clip all of the above for all of the schools 
together with the College Application Checklist 
(purple form, available in the College/Career 
Center)on the front.

You must sign up in advance in the College/Career Center to attend.  15
person maximum per workshop.

EVENTS

*1.  All Berkeley High students are invited  to 
see Youth Musical Theater Company's production of 
"Fiddler on the Roof."  There are six 
performances the weekend of November 7 and 14th 
at the Julia Morgan Theater.  This production 
features 19 BHS students.  Tickets are available 
online at
brownpapertickets.com and at the door.

2.  As we are approaching Berkeley High's 
homecoming game for football we will need 
freshmen runners to be Count and Countess, 
sophomore runners for Duke and Dutchess, junior 
runners for Prince and Princess and some seniors 
to run for King and Queen.  If you interested 
come by D148 to begin campaigning for a crown. 
Winners will be announced at the varsity 
homecoming game (after voting earlier that day). 
Run to claim your crown to add to your list of 
good memories.

3.  Freshman dancers!  Where are you?  If you are dancing with the freshmen
class of 2012 please come to D148 and see Ms. Jordan.
