Paul Grossman, a successful civil rights attorney, law school
professor, and individual with learning disabilities will share with
PEN members his expertise on students with disabilities in college.
He will share with us his own story of going from struggling high
school student to ranking near the top of his law school class. Paul
will share with us what research shows are the most important skills
to develop in high school in order to succeed in college-hint: they
have nothing to do with reading or writing.

Most important, Paul will highlight eight major differences between
the rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities in high
school and the rights and responsibilities of such students in
college. Parents and children need to be aware of these differences
before they arrive at college! There are no IEPs, no fair hearings,
no RSP classes, no aids, and no manifestations procedures.
Nonetheless, there are some accommodations not available in high
school that may be available in college. How can you write a good
transition plan or prepare your child for college without this
critical information; you can't! But PEN and Paul can give you the
answers.
