Many are still buzzing from Saturday night's Oakland Interfaith
Gospel Choir concert
at the Little Theater presented by the BHS Development Group. The
choirs were truly awesome.
It was a lot of beautiful people, hearts, minds and music coming
together under our own roof.
Michael Morgan, conductor of the Oakland East Bay Symphony was a
surprise guest, offering his
full and active support in re-establishing choral ensemble at BHS.
A specially formed BHS Gospel Choir sang beautifully under the
direction of Trelawny Rose.
Several speakers offered thought-provoking commentary about the roots
and messages in spirituals, and The Oakland Interfaith Adult and
Youth Choirs truly rocked the house with their gorgeous, rich sound,
harmonies and dynamics. Omani dancers and BHS's own highly talented
Afro Haitian dance ensemble danced to two of the spirituals offered
in the program, adding extra depth, dimension and imagination to both
choral pieces.
Thanks to all who helped put this together, all that donated, and
all that attended this rich event at the Little Theater!
