Dear Parents & Guardians,

Two School Board Candidates' Debates have just been announced. The
first one is being hosted by Berkeley Arts Magnet (BAM -- at 2015
Virginia St.) and will take place at BAM on Wednesday, October 1st
from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. The second debate is being hosted by the PTA
Council and will take place at the Willard Middle School library
(2425 Stuart St.) on Monday, October 27, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.

There are four candidates running for two open seats on the School
Board. The four candidates are: Toya Groves, Beatriz Leyva-Cutler,
Priscilla Myrick and John Selawsky. The winners will help guide the
school district for the next four years and make decisions that will
affect our children for many years to come.

The school board race is always a very important race. Candidates
always have very different skills, ideas and priorities and each one
will have a different impact on education in Berkeley. The more
parents that come out to see, hear and meet the candidates between
now and election day, the more informed Berkeley electorate we will
have.

We hope to see you there!

Mark van Krieken
BHS PTSA President

Remember -- Election day is November 4th!
