STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN
September 26, 2008

*New to the bulletin today

ADMINISTRATION

1.  BART ticket orders for October will be on September 26th in room D224 at lunch time only.  Tickets are $16 each, cash only please.

*2.  Calling all Freshmen!  Leadership is looking for freshmen leaders to join leadership.  Orientation will be Monday, Sept. 29 in D148.

*3.  Mathworks Training on Tuesday, September 30th in H115 from 3:30 – 4:30 pm.  Come tutor at Willard Middle School and receive tutoring and community service credits for college.  Contact:  WillardmathWorks at gmail.com.

*4.  Teachers: Please hand in your Student Attendance Reports to the attendance office (APT 17).  The first week's report is yellow, the 2nd week is green.  These reports generate the money for the school!!

SPORTS

* BHS FOOTBALL -- BHS vs PITTSBURG at Pittsburg High School.  JV at 5:00pm and Varsity at 7:00 pm.  Come support your Yellow Jackets football!

JOB OPPORTUNITIES

1.  Job in Glass-Blowing Studio -- helping with studio open house.  October 11th and 12th, 18 and 19th, and 25th and 26th from 10am to 5pm. $14/hour.  For friendly, helpful student. 2.  Office help needed in small home business in northwest Berkeley, 2-3 hours a week after school.  For a capable, responsible and reliable student familiar with Mac, word, email programs. 2.  SCHOLARSHIPS

California Museum Dreamers' Challenge -- Submit an essay, video, audio or artwork to tell us how your dream will leave a lasting mark on the state, nation and the world.  Must be a senior and California resident.  Award - $5,000 cash and attend the California Hall of Fame Events.  Application available in D221 and at www.CaliforniaMuseum.org.  Received deadline:  October 10.

Horatio Alger Association -- Open to graduating seniors, planning to pursue a bachelor's degree, (but may start at a community college), with family income no more than $50,000, involved in co-curricular and community activities, with a minimum GPA of 2.0, who is a US citizen. Apply online at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships.  Scholarships from $2,000-20,000.  Deadline:  October 30.

FOR ALL STUDENTS

Zoo Careers Night -- Friday, September 26, 5:30-9:30 pm, Oakland Zoo.  Open to teens ages 12-19 who are interested in zoos, animals, biology, zoology or the environment.  You will have a chance to meet zoo employees personally and ask questions, gain hands-on veterinary medicine experience and get information on pursuing a career in a zoo, and more.  Register at www.oaklandzoo.org.  $15 fee for teens, $7 for adult chaperones(their attendance is not required). 


EVENTS

1.  Want to show off your moves and represent the class of 2010 while doing it?  October 24th will be the auditions for class rally dances, so get your groups together and get ready to dance it off and show the school what you've got!

2.  Artists: Want to show off your artistic skill?  If so, we are accepting Junior class rally T-shirt designs.  Submit your designs ASAP to D148.  The winner gets a free T-shirt.
