The Berkeley Athletic Fund, Berkeley Athletics and the Barbeque Club,
are teaming up to celebrate and congratulate the academic
accomplishments of these student-athletes.  On Friday, May 30, all
students noted as achieving these honors are invited to attend a very
special Barbeque Club lunchtime event in the courtyard.  Eligible
students can choose either one ticket to the barbeque club on Friday
or two tickets to take a friend to lunch any day in the food court.  

Names of scholar athletes are posted on the pool and Donahue gym
windows.
Check with the athletic director if you think there has been a
mistake.

During their athletic season, athletes are required to make a
commitment to practice and play two hours a day, five days a week.
Despite this great time demand, the students listed also made the
commitment to their academics.  Grades are checked quarterly for
academic eligibility.  The following statistics are for the quarter
during which athletes were in season.

While participating in their sports, out of 1000 student-athletes:

	326 had a grade point average of 3.5 or better

	88 posted a 4.0 grade point average

	28 improved their grade point average by 0.5 or better
