Are you a student interested in law? Do you want to help people in
your community? Do you want to help make student discipline fairer,
meaningful, and more productive? Maybe we're looking for you!

The Berkeley High Student Court provides a restorative alternative to
suspensions, and we are recruiting students to be advocates for the
program for the coming school year. You will be learning about how to
interview offenders (we call them respondents), construct statements,
and analyze the context and impact of the offenders' actions.
Advocates will be trained by law students through a partnership
fostered between Berkeley High School and the UC Berkeley School of
Law.

You can get 5 credits per semester for participation, and the class
meets on Tuesday and Thursdays after school. The trials take place
four to six times a month (every other week) from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

Contact david_luu at berkeley.k12.ca.us or go to H104 for more
information. It's important that students get on board before the end
of this year, so don't delay!
