Administration

*1. Do you need elective credits? Do you want to make your college
application stand out amongst the rest? Do you have an interest in law
and justice? Do you want to make your mama proud? Then you should look
into becoming a lawyer for the Student Court. It's about giving
students a chance to change their ways and stay in school instead of
getting suspended. Signing up is easy, just talk to Mr. Luu in H104
for more information. 

2. The tuxedo man will be here today at lunch.

3. AP TEST SCHEDULE:  All tests will be given in the Jacket Gym EXCEPT
Computer Science and German, which will be given in conference room B.

Clubs

1. Yearbooks for sale in H102.  Buy them soon.   $75 dollars for
everyone, $60 for reduced lunch.  2 for 1 deal 07 and 08 for $100.
Look for $5 off coupon in the latest jacket.  Also, yearbook students
meet today in H102.


Sports

*1. Congratulations to Track & Field for their 2nd place finish in
League Finals and good luck to the nine athletes who qualified for
post season competition. 

2. VARSITY GIRLS SOFTBALL - Monday, May 12-Berkeley vs. El Cerrito
High.  The girls are tied for first in the ACCAL and headed for
another NCS appearance.  Come cheer them on!


All Students

1. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - Thursday, May 22, Lake Temescal, East Bay
Regional Park District hosts Special Kids Fishing Derbies for disabled
elementary school children.  Every child needs an older "buddy" to
escort them through the day's activities.  Volunteers will attend an
orientation before the elementary students arrive, receive a free
t-shirt and breakfast and lunch.  For more information, call

Senior / Junior Section

1. SENIORS- Please take a look at the Potential GRAD list.  If you
find any discrepancies, please see Ms. Mellion in room D173 at
lunchtime or after school.  The list will be posted in the College
Advisors room- D221.

2. JUNIORS - College Information Night, Tuesday, May 13, 7:30 pm,
Scottish Rite Center, 1547 Lakeside Dr., Oakland.  Student/Parent
sessions sponsored by Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn and Stanford.

*3. SAT/ACT TEST DATES - May 9 is the regular registration deadline
for the June 14 ACT test.  Fee waivers for low income students are
available in D221.   May 15 is the late registration deadline for the
June 7 SAT and SAT subject tests.  These are the last tests until the
fall.  

*4. SCHOLARSHIP - Gill Scholarship - open to graduating seniors who
are planning a major in business, computer science, engineering,
health science, teaching, math or the natural sciences and have a
minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0.  Deadline has been extended until May
16.  $2,000 scholarship per year, renewable for three additional years
in college.  Applications available in D221  


Summer Opportunities

1. STAGE DOOR CONSERVATORY will be hiring three students to work as
apprentices from June 16 through August 25.  Apprentices will assist
with the day-to-day operation of our musical theater camp and with
rehearsals. They will also select and focus upon one specialty area
and focus on this area during their apprenticeship.  Each apprentice
will be paid a $1,000 stipend at the conclusion of the 10 week period
and can be absent for one week during the season, with the exception
of the weeks of August 2 and August 18. Program hours: 8:30 AM to 4:00
PM, MON - FRI. Apprentices must also work at our shows on August 8, 9
and 10 and 22, 23 and 24.  For more information and an application,
