*Sunday, April 27, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in Heller Lounge, UC Berkeley
will host "Achieving our Dreams, Immigrant Student Conference," that
will focus on the struggles of undocumented students and how they can
make it through college. There will be workshops on applying to and
paying for college and advocating for every student's right to an
education regardless of their legal status. Open to high school
students, community college students, counselors, and parents. For

*Immediate internship opportunity available with Indie-Pop Music,
LLC, an independent record label with offices located in the Bay Area
and New York City. Approximately 4 hours/week is required, where you
will help in the development, distribution, and promotion of all
Indie-Pop artists. Creativity, dedication, and the ability to work on

*Outward Bound Gay and Lesbian Youth Leadership Mountaineering
Course, July 11-20, 2008
Saguache Range, Colorado. This 10-day wilderness leadership course
is designed for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered young
adults (ages 16-25) from across the country. During these
transformational mountaineering adventures, students have hands-on
opportunities to challenge themselves both physically and mentally.
They work to strengthen leadership skills and test problem-solving
and risk-taking techniques both individually and as a community of
LGBT people.

*STAGE DOOR CONSERVATORY will be hiring three students to work as
apprentices from June 16 through August 25. Apprentices will assist
with the day-to-day operation of our musical theater camp and with
rehearsals. They will also select and focus upon one specialty area
and focus on this area during their apprenticeship. Each apprentice
will be paid a $1,000 stipend at the conclusion of the 10 week period
and can be absent for one week during the season, with the exception
of the weeks of August 2 and August 18. Program hours: 8:30 AM to
4:00 PM, MON - FRI. Apprentices must also work at our shows on August
8, 9 and 10 and 22, 23 and 24. For more information and an

Counselor-in-training opportunities are also available.
The Museum of Children's Art (MOCHA) is seeking High School youth for
volunteer positions as an Art Apprentices, working at their Art Camp
this summer (June 16-Aug 22). We are looking for responsible teens
with an interest in art and having fun. The Art Apprentices will be
assisting the Art instructors by helping young campers (ages 5-13)
making art, preparing materials for art projects, clean up, recess
supervision and chaperoning field trips to other museums and programs.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience working in art and
supervising children. The minimum commitment is 5-6 hours per day for
two weeks (not necessarily consecutive weeks).

Project WHAT! raises awareness about the impacts of parental
incarceration in children, with the long-term goal of improving
services and policies that affect children of incarcerated parents.
We are now accepting applications from youth (ages 15-24) who have
had a parent in prison or jail at some point in their lives. Pay is
approximately $10/hour plus local transportation stipends. Position
is PART-TIME (approx. 6 hours/week during the summer and 3 hours/week

Free writing workshop, "Finding Your Voice," sponsored by Youth
Speaks, a national organization dedicated to Spoken Word performance,
education and youth development programs. Facilitators: Katri Foster
and Lauren Whitehead. Wednesdays 4-6pm in Room C327. This workshop
will encourage you to rethink what you've been told and to question
what you've assumed through creative exploration of the world around
you. All Youth Speaks After School Writing Workshops are FREE for
everyone and no registration is necessary.
ST. MARY'S COLLEGE FAIR - Saturday, April 26, from 1:00-4:30pm, come
to the St. Mary's College Fair to get information from over 150
college representatives from around the country. Workshops on
admissions and financial aid in English and Spanish are also
available. Free shuttles are available every 15 minutes beginning at
12:30 pm from the Orinda BART station. For more information, go to

CSF Members - Are you interested in a leadership position in Berkeley
High's CSF Chapter next year? Applications for CSF President,
Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer are now available in the

FOR JUNIORS
SAT/ACT TEST DATES - May 6 is the regular registration deadline for
the June 7 SAT and SAT subject tests. May 9 is the regular
registration deadline for the June 14 ACT test. Fee waivers for low
income students are available in D221.
FOR SENIORS
Are you planning to attend a UC campus in the fall? If so, you must
take the Analytical Writing Placement Exam on May 10 unless you
scored 30 or better on the Combined English/Writing test on the ACT;
680 or better on the Writing section of the SAT reasoning test; or a
3, 4 or 5 on either AP English test. For more information, including

Hispanic/Latino students - win free tickets to and from your college
campus. Southwest Airlines and the Hispanic Association of Colleges
and Universities (HACU) are sponsoring a travel award program. If
you are enrolled in a two or four year college, have at least a 2.5
GPA and economic need, you can apply for up to four round-trip
tickets on Southwest Airlines for yourself and/or your parent to use
when traveling to or from your college. For more information, go to

BAYAC AmeriCorps, a collaborative of over 30 community service
organizations that serve youth and families in the San Francisco Bay
Area. As part of AmeriCorps, a federally funded national and
community service program, it offers high school graduates the
opportunity to work with youth in the Bay Area either part time or
full time in the areas of tutoring, afterschool activities, service
learning and volunteer coordination. These are paid positions. If

May 1 is the deadline for you to send a Statement of Intent to
Register (SIR) to one of the colleges which has accepted you. After
that date, many colleges will withdraw your admission. It is
unethical to send an SIR to more than one school and if colleges find
out that you have done so, they may rescind your admission. If you
are waitlisted at your first choice school, you must deposit at
another school since no one will be admitted from the waitlist until
after May 1. If you would like to discuss your college choices or
have questions about financial aid, waitlists, other schools which
are still accepting applications or anything else in the college
application process, please see your college advisor at lunch or
after school.
SCHOLARSHIPS

Manos de Esperanza - Open to graduating seniors with a minimum GPA of
2.8 who has financial need, plan sto enroll in a two or four year
college program or graduate program and has involvement with the
community. Several $500 scholarships are available. Applications

Scotlan Scholarship Award - Open to graduating seniors from an
Alameda County high school who have a minimum GPA of 3.0, have
participated in community service for at least two years,
have financial need, and are U.S. citizens, native born. Scholarship:
$2,625 per year for four years. Applications available in D221.
Deadline: April 30.
Nahas Scholarship Award - Open to graduating seniors from an Alameda
County high school who have a minimum GPA of 3.0, have participated
in community service for at least two years, have competed in a
competitive sports program for at least two years, and are U.S.
citizens, native born. Scholarship: $2,625 per year for four years.

Kensington Community Council Summer Day Camp - Camp for children in
grades 1-6 runs from June 16-August 22, Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:00.
They are looking for students who have completed their junior year in
high school or older who enjoy working with kids. Applications

Center.
