STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN
April 18, 2008

Administration

1. STAR testing begins next week: April 22-April 25th.  Seniors begin
school each day at 12 noon.  Ninth - eleventh graders begin each
morning at 8:30 am.  All students report to their second period
classes each day.  Schedule attached below--see at the end of this
bulletin.

2. ID photos for new students and duplicate ID's can be obtained
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays at lunchtime and from 3:00 to 3:30
after school on those days.  The last day to take a picture or receive
a duplicate ID card will be Thursday May 8, 2008.  Remember you need
an ID to attend any activity including the prom, so please don't
delay.  Get your ID's if you don't have one.

*3. Do you want to be on Leadership?  Come to an informational meeting
in D148 today at lunch.

4. BART Tickets are in for April.  Please pick up your tickets by
April 25, as new orders will be taken at the end of the month.  Pick
up tickets at lunchtime and after school in Room D224.

5. Crab Feed- April 25, 2008-BHS Food Court. Please support Youth of
the Berkeley High- Rise Program.  All you can eat Crab including
Pasta, Salad, Bread and drinks.  Raffle.  Tickets are available in
G111 or call 849-4898- $35 each.

6. CSF Members- Are you interested in a leadership position in
Berkeley High's CSF Chapter next year?  Applications for CSF
president, Vice-President, Secretary and treasurer are now available
in the College career Center, D221.  Applications are due Friday,
April 25th in D221.  Contact csfbhs at gmail.com with any questions.

7. Attention students: DO you have library or textbooks that are
overdue? Are you sure?  Well, if you are not sure if you have returned
your books from any prior year, stop by the library or the textbook
room to check it out.  Seniors- please remember, you will not be
allowed to attend your prom or receive your final grades if you have
overdue books.  Please be responsible and check your status with
Tiffany Williams in the BHS library.

Clubs

1. What is this controversy around intelligent design and evolution?
What scientific principles are behind each theory?  And why do many
science textbooks not include intelligent design.  Come to a special
question and answer session this Friday at lunch at Youth for Christ
club in G302.  Note that this is a discussion on good science versus
bad science and not religion versus science.


Sports

1. All Girls' Basketball Athletes: The banquet for all levels is at
Longfellow on Wednesday, 4/23 at 6:00 pm.  Freshman are to bring
drinks and breads, JV are to bring salads and deserts and V will bring
entrees.  Call Coach Draper to confirm your attendance at 229-7812.

2. Varsity Girls Softball- 4 pm at Grove Street Park this Friday
against Pinole Valley High.  Come support our girls...  BYOP (Bring
your own peanuts)!


Sophomores / Juniors

*1. ST. MARY'S COLLEGE FAIR - Saturday, April 26, from 1:00-4:30pm,
come to the St. Mary's College Fair to get information from over 150
college representatives from around the country.  Workshops on
admissions and financial aid in English and Spanish are also
available.  Free shuttles are available every 15 minutes beginning at
12:30 pm from the Orinda BART station. For more information, go to

*1. Free Practice SAT and SAT subject test in the US History- Peoples
test Preparation Service at UC Berkeley is offering free practice
tests: Mock SAT, Saturday, 4/19/08, 8:00 am - 2:30 pm, 160 Dwinelle,
UC Berkeley SAT subject test in US history, Sunday, 4/20/08, 1:00 pm -
4:00 pm, 105 Dwinelle RSVP to leannealmario at yahoo.com or just show up.

2. UC Berkeley's Pre-Pharmacy Informational, Learning, & Leadership
Society Presents the 2nd Annual Northern California Pre-Pharmacy
Symposium on Saturday, April 19, 2008, 9:00 am-5:00 pm at UC Berkeley
Barrows Hall. This conference is designed for anyone interested in or
pursuing a pharmacy career. The goals of the symposium are to inform
students on the application process for pharmacy school and present a
broad spectrum of possible pharmacy careers. Cost is $16 and includes
breakfast, lunch and a snack. For more information and to register,

Events/ Performances

1. BHS JAZZ Lab 1 and 2 Spring Concert- tonight, Friday, April 18th at
7:30 pm in the Little Theater.  Tickets $3 for students/ $10 general
admission and free for Berkeley High Students and staff.
Refreshments, t-shirts and CDs will be available for purchase.

2. We are looking for an accordion player to perform live at Berkeley
high Dance Projects.  To contact me call 229-9083.
