STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
*1. Crab Feed- April 25, 2008-BHS Food Court.Please support Youth of
the Berkeley High- Rise Program. All you can eat Crab including
Pasta, Salad, Bread and drinks. Raffle. Tickets are available in
G111 or call 849-4898- $35 each.
2. BART Tickets are in for April. Please pick up your tickets by
April 25, as new orders will be taken at the end of the month. Pick
up tickets at lunchtime and after school in Room D224.
3. ID photos for new students and duplicate ID's can be obtained
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays at lunchtime and from 3:00 to 3:30
after school on those days. The last day to take a picture or
receive a duplicate ID card will be Thursday May 8, 2008. Remember
you need an ID to attend any activity including the prom, so please
don't delay. Get your ID's if you don't have one.
4. CSF Members- Are you interested in a leadership position in
Berkeley High's CSF Chapter next year? Applications for CSF
president, Vice-President, Secretary and treasurer are now available
in the College career Center, D221. Applications are due Friday,
April 25th in D221. Contact csfbhs at gmail.com with any questions.
5. Attention students: DO you have library or textbooks that are
overdue? Are you sure? Well, if you are not sure if you have
returned your books from any prior year, stop by the library or the
textbook room to check it out. Seniors- please remember, you will
not be allowed to attend your prom or receive your final grades if
you have overdue books. Please be responsible and check your status
with Tiffany Williams in the BHS library.

Clubs
*1. BSU is hosting a turn around trip to Magic Mountain in Los
Angeles for seniors only! Come to a informational meeting this
Wednesday, April 16th at lunch in the Little Theater.
Sports
1. Cheerleading tryouts begin today, April 14th. You must have a
complete athletic packet to tryout, including a recent physical.
Packets are available in the front or athletic offices. For more
information stop by the dance room.
Senior / Junior Section
*1. Are you interested in participating this summer in a program
sponsored by the Experiment in International Living? Challenge
yourself to live in a different culture for three to five weeks.
Bring your parents to an informational meeting on Tuesday, April 15
at 6:30 p.m. in C106. The possibilities and registration process will
be explained.
2. Street Level Cycles, Berkeley Boathouse and Sew Your Own provide
free services and training for people of all ages to work on bike
mechanics, boat construction, and sewing. This is a great opportunity
to learn these skills for fun or a career. For more information, go

3. SENIOR GRADES COUNT - Please remember that although this is your
last quarter of your senior year, you must keep your grades up if you
are planning to attend a four year college in the fall. The college
you are planning to attend will receive a copy of your final
transcript. All admissions decisions are conditional based on your
completion of high school with roughly the same GPA as when you were
admitted. Colleges can and do revoke offers of admission. Don't let
this happen to you! In addition, if you received a D or an F first
semester, you MUST let each of your colleges know now, if you haven't
done so already. If you have questions or want to discuss your
situation, please see Ms. Abrams or Ms. Price.
4. UC Berkeley's Pre-Pharmacy Informational, Learning, & Leadership
Society Presents the 2nd Annual Northern California Pre-Pharmacy
Symposium on Saturday, April 19, 2008, 9:00 am-5:00 pm at UC Berkeley
Barrows Hall. This conference is designed for anyone interested in or
pursuing a pharmacy career. The goals of the symposium are to inform
students on the application process for pharmacy school and present a
broad spectrum of possible pharmacy careers. Cost is $16 and includes
breakfast, lunch and a snack. For more information and to register,

5. SCHOLARSHIPS

Meleia Willis-Starbuck Memorial Scholarship for Social Justice - Open
to students who plan to attend and have been admitted to a two or
four year college or university in fall 2008, participated in work to
further the cause of social justice while in high school and plan to
continue to do so in college, has financial need and a minimum
unweighted GPA of 2.5. Several scholarships of $1,000 or more will
be awarded. Applications available in D221. Deadline: April 15.
Gill Scholarship - Open to graduating seniors planning to attend
college in the fall who have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0, plan on
majoring in business, computer science, engineering, health science,
teaching math or the natural sciences and has financial need.
Scholarships are $2,000 per year, renewable for three or more
subsequent years. Applications available in D221. Deadline: April
15.
Beach Blanket Babylon Scholarship for the Arts - Scholarships offered
in the areas of voice, acting and dance. Open to seniors who are
legal residents of the U.S. One winner from each category will be
awarded $10,000 to be used for higher education. Applications
available in D221. Deadline: April 25.
Summer
1. SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS - The 2008 African American Youth
Leadership Program~(AAYLP) summer conference will be held at
Sacramento State University from July 26-August 2. Students will
spend the week on campus as well as one day at the State Capitol.
AAYLP participants are prepared with the practical training to be
effective leaders in their communities. Applications are available at

Deadline: April 15.
