[BHS etree] PTSA: State Budget Letters - It's Time To Be Outraged!!

Dear Berkeley High Parents,

We very much need every one of you to please write to the following
four politicians to strongly object to the Governor's proposed $4.8
billion cut to education.   Attached you will find four letters: one
to each Governor Schwarzenegger, Assemblywoman Hancock, Assemblyman
Swanson and Senator Perata for everyone to download sign and mail,
email or fax (please be sure to type your name, address, phone number
and date in at the top and to type your name underneath you signature
at the bottom).

This battle against the proposed cuts to education is only going to be
won with a tremendous political effort and we will need to contact
these representatives on a regular basis.  The State PTA recommends
that we contact these four once a week by either mail, email, fax or
phone.  Mark a day of the week on your calendars to quickly contact
these representatives with a quick word to remind them that this issue
still really matters to you.  Feel free to keep using the same letters
over and over.  The Governor in particular needs to hear from
everyone, every week.

As I also mentioned in my other email message today, our educational
funding, statewide as well as in Berkeley, will drop from
approximately $7,000 to about $6,200 if these cuts go through.
Everything we have heard from all the officials we've spoken with,
both here in Berkeley and in Sacramento, is that these cuts will
happen if we don't become very active in protesting them.  Everybody
needs to feel outraged.  Please get involved with the steps that the
District and the PTA put forth, or your children's education will be
compromised.  Thank you for your support and have a great Spring
Break.
