Administration
1. Late Start Wednesday, January 9th! Remember- School begins at

3. Social Living students- remember to turn in all journals and pick
up find assignment sheet from Ms Katz. See me in C333 7th period
Tuesday- Thursday!
4. The School of Social Justice and Ecology is hosting an Electronics
Recycling Drive @ Berkeley High School Parking Lot from 8am to 4 pm on
Saturday, February 2, 2008. Universal waste includes televisions,
monitors, laptops, flat screens, DVD Players, CPU's, printers, cell
phones and even stereo's that are found today in homes and business.
5. Recycle your cell phones, pagers, ink cartridges and batteries.
Bring them to G207.
6. PSAT scores are here! Students may pick them up in the
College/Career Center at lunch or after school ONLY.
Clubs
1. Lunch meeting Mountain Bike Club, Wednesday at lunch in H206
(Prolo's room). We will review training schedule for January.
2. California Scholarship Federation (CSF members): community service
time sheets and fundraising money are due, Friday, January 18, 2008
for the Fall 2007 semester in the College Career Center. Please
contact csfbhs at gmail.com with any questions.
3. Attention Willard Mathworks tutors: There is no tutoring scheduled
for today, Tuesday, January 8. Tutoring will resume Tuesday, January
15th at Willard. Contact willmathworks at gmail.com with any questions.
Sports
1. All Fall athletes should turn in remaining uniforms and equipment
and pick up pictures and awards in the athletic office at lunch or
immediately after school this week.
2. Congratulations to Senior Matt Miyazaki for placing 3rd at the
Crossface Classic JV Wrestling tournament last Saturday at St.
Patrick- St Vincent High School. Miyazaki went 2-1 and pinned his
final opponent in 52 seconds of the first round to secure the bronze
medal. See the Wrestling team this Thursday as they travel to Albany
High School.
3. Attention all BHS girls interested in playing softball, meet on
Friday, January 11th at 3:30 pm on the bleachers. Voluntary
pre-season conditioning schedule:
January 15,17,18 Conditioning 3:30 - 5:00 pm
January 22,23,24 Conditioning 3:30 - 5:00 pm
January 29,30,31 Conditioning 3:30 - 5:00 pm
4. To all spring athletes: ***Tryouts begin Monday February 4th ***
You must have a valid physical and complete athletic packet to tryout.
It's time to schedule a physical with your doctor! Blank packets are
available in the front or athletic office.
5. Attention all swimmers: Anyone interested in joining the Berkeley
high Swimming and Diving team should attend a short meeting on
Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 11:40 am (lunchtime) at the BHS pool.
Come and meet your teammate and your coach.
6. Berkeley's Wrestling Team will be begin League competition this
week with two dual meets. Today the Jackets take on St. Patrick-St.
Vincent High School at Home in the Old Social Hall at 6 and Thursday
Berkeley travels to Albany. Come out and show your support.

Bay Gymnasium, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd., Hayward. Conference: 8:30 am
to 2:30 pm; Resource Fair: 10:00 am - 2:30 pm. Includes free lunch
and parking. Learn more about health, education, and scholarship
resources. Inspirational speakers and workshops. Open to parents,
students, teachers, and counselors. On the spot college admission
available for seniors. Because space is limited, you must register to

Events/Performances
1. Attention all Berkeley High Students, we are having a school talent
show and we would like for everyone try to their best participate, it
will be open to all grades and auditions will be January 14,16, and
18.. If you would like to sign up to D148.
2. DANCE PRODUCTION- Fridays and Saturdays, January 11,12,18, and
19th. Each night at 8:00 pm in the Little Theater. $5 students/ $10
adults.
3. The 7th Annual Historically Black Colleges and University tour will
be held April 1- April 8, 2007 (Tour A). If any student is interested
in the tour, please see Mrs. Parker in room D224.
JOBS
1. Tutor needed for 8th grade student for homework support for
primarily algebra and writing and some science. Approximately 3 hours
per week, preferably on Mondays and Wednesdays after school at home
near Dwight and McGee. $10/ hour. For more information, call Dari at

2. High School Senior/Junior girl with good academics wanted to tutor
8th grade girl with homework in a variety of subjects. Must be able
to help with beginning Spanish. 2/3 hours a week- after school. $10/
$15 an hour depending on experience and compatibility. Meet at our
