STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
*1. School will be closed for Winter break on Friday, December 21-
January 4, 2008.
*2. Students please check the message board for lost and found items
in the Parent Resource Center. Items will be displayed on a table
next to the library on Wednesday, December 19th. All items not
picked up will be given to custodians for disposal.
3. Recycle your cell phones, pagers, ink cartridges and batteries.
Bring them to G207.
4. BART ticket sales for December will take place on December 18th
and 19th in room D224 at lunch time only. Ticket price is $16.00 for
$32.00 value ticket. Please bring exact amount. Cash only! Please no
checks!!
Clubs
*1. Knitters! The Knitting Club will be meeting during lunchtime
every day in the library. Come all five days of the week or whenever
you can. We will have a designated table complete with a tablecloth
so you can bring your lunch. Beginners and experts, staff and
students are all welcome! We have needles and yarn to get you
started.
*2. Earphone English- Come at lunch on Wednesday to C116 to get ready
for the holidays. Come choose a new audio book to listen to over
winter break, and have some pizza with us.
*3. If you missed last month's, Tuesday, 12/18 is the last Condom
Club before the break! Come learn the facts about HIV, STIs, and how
to be safe at lunch in room H114. Remember, you must attend the
entire lunch period to get a sticker on the back of your ID, which is
good for the rest of your time at BHS! Snacks will be served.

Sports
*1. Congratulations to juniors Koji Jagust and Thomas Hingano for
placing in last Saturday's Golden Gate Invitational Varsity Wrestling
Tournament at Washington High School in San Francisco. Koji placed
4th at the 145 pound weight class and Thomas placed 5th in the
Heavyweight division.
*2. All Fall athletes should turn in remaining uniforms and equipment
and pick up pictures and awards in the athletic office at lunch or
immediately after school this week.
Senior / Junior Section
1. Senior yearbook info- Get your senior page contract in room H102.
Pages are going fast and are limited. You can not have a page
without this contract. Pages cost $60 - $180. Deadline- December
20th.
2. Seniors! Have you ordered your cap and gown? Or your class ring?
Please fill out the graduation packet you should have gotten in your
English class and bring it to the "Achievers" booth in the courtyard
this Friday at lunch. If you need a packet, please come by D148 to
pick one up.
3. Seniors- Applying for financial aid? Pick up your copy of the Fund
Your Future Workshop in the College/ Career Center./ This easy to
read pamphlet contains nearly everything you need to know about
applying for financial aid and Cal Grants. Get yours now!
4. PSAT- we have not yet received the PSAT scores for students who
took the test this fall. We expect to receive them before winter
break. There will be an announcement in the Daily Bulletin as soon
as the scores are available.
5. SAT/ACT TEST DATES- December 26 is the regular registration
deadline for the January 26 SAT and SAT subject tests. Friday,
January 4 is the regular registration deadline for the February 9 ACT
test. Fee waivers for low income students are available in D221.
*6. Stanford Medical Youth Science Program- Five week summer
residential program held on Stanford's campus for low income high
school students interested in science, medicine and health. The
program is open to current sophomores and juniors from a low income
family without high levels of education. Students must have an
interest in science, medicine, and health. The program runs from
June 22-July 27 and students must attend the entire program.
Applications available in D221. Application deadline: February 15.
*7. Free Latino Education Summit- Saturday, February 2, Cal State
East Bay Gymnasium, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd., Hayward. Conference:
8:30 am to 2:30 pm; Resource Fair: 10:00 am - 2:30 pm. Includes
free lunch and parking. Learn more about health, education, and
scholarship resources. Inspirational speakers and workshops. Open
to parents, students, teachers, and counselors. On the spot college
admission available for seniors. Because space is limited, you must
register to attend. Forms available in D221 or at www.csueastbay.edu.
Events/ Performances
1. Attention students and teachers! This holiday season help kids
less fortunate than you by adopting an "angel." For more information
contact Miss Lovett in H305.
*2. Winterball ticket sales have started. Tickets are $45 this week
and we are selling Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at lunch and
after school. Buy your tickets now. They will go up to $55 after
winter break.
*3. Attention all Berkeley High Students, we are having a school
talent show and we would like everyone to try their best to
participate. It will be open to all grades and auditions will be
January 14,16, and 18. Sign up in D148.
4. The 7th Annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities tour
will be held April 1- April 8, 2008 (Tour A). If any student is
interested in the tour, please see Mrs. Parker in room D224.
Jobs
*1. Tutor needed for 8th grade student for homework support for
primarily algebra and writing and some science. Approximately 3
hours per week, preferably on Mondays and Wednesdays after school at
home near Dwight and McGee. $10/ hour. For more information, call
