STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN
November 14, 2007

Administration

1. Canned food drive has begun.  Please bring your canned food items
to your second period classroom.  The class with the most canned foods
will receive a pizza party in December.  The food is for the holiday
meal scheduled for December 15th.

*2. Achievers will be here on Friday, November 16th at lunch!  Don't
miss your chance to place orders for caps and gowns and senior
announcements.


Clubs

1. Parents of students interested in joining the BHS mountain bike
club are encouraged to attend an informational meeting Wednesday,
November 14 at 6 PM in H206.  We will review club requirements,
schedules and answer questions.  Please contact Coach Prolo with
questions at jared_prolo at berkeley.k12.ca.

2. Got Independence? Independent Theatre Projects is coming.
Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who are interested in
theatre should come to room C213 at lunch on November 14, 15, or 20
for more information.  Remember: this is your brain, and this is your
independence.

*3. Do you love performing and being part of a community?  Are you a
woman activist who wants to make a difference in the way that woman
are treated?  Then come audition for the Vagina Monologues!  Auditions
are in Mr. Winer's room A203 on Thursday and Friday after school (3:30
pm).

*4. Close-Up!  Meets at lunch on Thursday in C310 with Mr. Angell.
Please don't forget.


Sports

*1. On Friday, 11/16 at 7:00 pm BHS Varsity football (#8) team will
play at De La Salle (#1) in the first round of the NCS Division IV
Championship Tournament.  Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for
students.  No passes will be accepted for this NCS post-season event.
Come out and support the Jackets!


Senior / Junior Section

1. Essay Readers and workshops- Essay readers will be available in the
College/Career Center every day before school, at lunch, and after
school.  Also, readers are available 6th period  Monday, Tuesday and
Thursday.  No sign-ups are necessary; just bring your essay draft.

2. Celebrate your friendship, buy a senior page.  Seniors pick up your
contracts for senior pages at H102 7th period.  Pages are selling
fast.  Also, pick up your baby pictures in H102.  Yearbooks for sale
in the courtyard at lunch or in H102 7th period everyday.  Buy now.

*3. Senior yearbook info- Get your senior page contract in room H102.
Pages are going fast and are limited.  You can not have a page without
this contract.  Pages cost $60 - $180 .  Deadline- December 5th.

*4. Also Seniors you can pick up your baby pictures in H102 Tuesday
through Friday.

5. SENIORS-Sign up in the College/ Career Center to attend these
college visits.  You must get an authorization (Available in D221)
signed by the teacher whose class you will miss.

6. APPLY TO THE UCs AND CAL SATES NOW! The UC application is now
available online at http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/
The first day to submit your application was November 1.  The Cal
State application is available at www.csumentor.edu.  You can start
the applications and save them as you go.  Sign up to attend the
application workshops where you can get one-on-one help with both
applications.  All workshops will be held in the BHS library:

Events / Performances

1. A movie- "Hollywood Renaissance" A movie starring everybody and
you.  Auditions to act in a movie celebrating the tradition of the
Hollywood classics.  Auditions are after school on Wednesday (Nov. 14
and Nov. 19th.  Prepare a  monologue no more three minutes.  Be
prepare for cold readings.  Sign up in the A building.

2. Youth talent and LOGO Contest!  Calling all Artists: BAY-Peace
needs your help in creating a brand new logo.  Youth Talent Showcase-
November 18th, 2-5 pm at our Open House.  Lots of prizes: Cash, Gift
certificates and more.

3. The 7th Annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities tour
will be held April 1 - April 8, 2008 (Tour A).  If any student is
interested in the tour, please see Mrs. Parker in room D224.


Sales

1. BART ticket orders will be taken on Nov. 14th and Nov 15th at
lunchtime in room D224.  Ticket price is $16.00 cash only please.
Exact change for  the number of tickets you wish to purchase will be
appreciated.
