Subject: Last Chance This Fall to Become A Writing Coach!

"At first, I was thinking, oh man, I don’t really wanna do this.
However, I found myself looking forward to every meeting with the
coaches.”   (Thomas, a middle school student)

For many students, initially reluctant or not, WriterCoach Connection
volunteers bring hope, encouragement and assistance to the difficult
task of putting their ideas into words on a page. Students are
grateful, teachers feel supported, and for volunteers, “the glint in
the eye when you strike a chord is worth it all,” says one.

WCC has begun one-on-one coaching of student writers at Community
Partnerships Academy. Have you thought about being a writing coach?
The commitment is only 1-2 hours, approximately twice per month,
during the school day (we coach Friday mornings during 1st and 2nd
period). And, with WCC training and support, you don’t need to be a
writer or teacher.

The clock is ticking...but it is not too late to join a writing coach
team this fall. Register today and learn strategies to help
teens—including your own—gain confidence, improve skills and complete
assignments. The last WCC training this fall is:

  Training #11:    Tuesdays    11/6 and 11/13     12:00-3:00 PM

WCC coaches represent diverse ethnicities, ages, and walks of
life--all are welcome!  Join a fabulous team of volunteers this school
year. For info or to register: www.writercoachconnection.org (go to
“Volunteer”).
