Administration

1. Achievers will return for a make-up day to purchase caps and gowns
and other senior items on Friday, October 19th at lunchtime.  

2. The College/Career Center will be closed during sixth period until
Monday, October 22 until new behavior guidelines have been determined.

3. The Spanish Inquisition in Berkeley?  Come see Youth Musical
Theater Company's production of MAN OF LA MANCHA!  Opens on Friday,
October 26 at 8:00 pm at Longfellow Auditorium.  Don't miss this
classic comic drama about one man's fight to make the world a better
place.  Great music and a terrific cast, including 16 students from
Berkeley High!  Check out the posters around school or go to our

*4. Celebrate Teen Read Week!  L.O.L. at the Berkeley High Library.
Read the library jokes and riddles and check out a funny book. Knock,
Knock.  Who's there? Snow. Snow who?  Snow better place to hang out
during the winter than the library!  Hahahaaha...


Rally Information

*1. Homecoming applications will be accepted until, Friday, October
19th!  Support your school and your class and pick up one in D148.

2. Spirit week is coming soon- October 22-26!

Thursday- 80's day (seniors)/Backwards Day(underclassman)
Friday - Red and Gold Day

3. Spirit Week is coming! On Monday, 60's and 70's day, the sophomore
class of 2010 is having a fashion show and bake sale.  Wear your 60's
and 70's gear and come strut your stuff in our fashion show.  Win free
Winter Ball tickets.  Can you dig it!

4. Tuesday, Toga Day, show some spirit and dress up!  Come out during
lunch for the Toga Day Olympics and win prom tickets!  See ya there.


Clubs

*1. Yearbooks on sale at lunchtime in front of the Theater or at 7th
period in H102 for $70.00.  Buy them for $65.00 on myyear.com until
October 31st.

*2. Earphone English- did you miss the first meeting?  Do you want to
check in or change your audio book?  Come today at lunch to C116.

3. Attention all poets, prospective poets, and revolutionary
wordsmiths: Come to C327 every Wednesday, beginning October 17, from
3:30 - 5:30 pm for poetry workshops led  Hodari Davis, poet and
educator extraordinaire!  Bring a pen, paper, your experience and your
brain!

4. Come to Ping Pong club's first tournament.  Matches will learn
begin on Tuesday, October 23.  Sign up this Tuesday and Friday during
lunch in the Ping Pong Room, 2nd floor, old gym.  Regular play will
also continue this Tuesday and Friday open to all levels.

5. Interested in Christianity?  Want to meet Christians?  Come to
Youth for Christ Club in G302 at lunch on Fridays.  Come to this
Friday's meeting to discuss what topics to cover this year.  Everyone
is welcome.


Sports

1. To all BHS students who want to tryout for basketball, soccer or
wrestling:  You must have a valid annual physical and a complete
athletic packet to try out.  Now is the time to get a physical!
Athletic packets are available in the athletic office or in the front
office.  Turn it into the coach on first day of practice.  All winter
sports start on Monday, November 5.   Don't miss your opportunity to
play- get your paperwork together now!

2. Interested in wrestling this season for Berkeley High?  Come to the
Athletic Office and sign up on Thursday, October 18th at lunch.  First
day of practice is only 4 weeks away!  Find out if you have what it
takes to compete in the toughest sport around!  Any boy or girl from
80 pounds to 275 pounds is invited to join.

3. Neff returns for Letter Jacket sales:  Wednesday October 24th at
lunch.  You can buy your letters for $10, size your jacket, and pick
up order forms in the athletic office from now until that date.  Don't
miss your chance to have your jacket by the holidays.


Senior / Junior Section

1. Essay Readers and workshops- Essay readers will be available in the
College/Career Center at lunch time this week and next.  No sign-ups
are necessary; just bring your essay draft.

2. APPLY TO THE UCs AND CAL SATES NOW! The UC application is now
available online at http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/.
You can start your application and work on it now.  The first day to
submit your application is November1.  The Cal State application is
available at www.csumentor.edu.  You can start the applications and
save them as you go.  Sign up attend the application workshops where
you can get one on one help with both applications.  All workshops
will be held in the BHS library.  Thursday, 10/18- 7:30 a.m., Tuesday,
10/23-3:30 p.m., Friday, 10/26- 7:30 a.m., MONDAY, 10/29- 3:30 p.m.,
Tuesday, 10/30- 7:30 a.m.    More dates in November.

*3. SENIORS-Sign up in the College/ Career Center to attend these
college visits.  You must get an authorization (Available in D221)
signed by the teacher whose class you will miss.

Events / Performances

1. Would you like to go to Costa Rica, Baja, or the Galapagos next
Summer?  Come to an info meeting on Wednesday, October 17th in the BHS
Little Theater at 7 p.m.

*2. The 7th Annual Historian Black College University tour will be
held April 1- April 8, 2007 (Tour A).  If any student is interested in
the tour, please see Mrs. Parker in room D224.

*1. BART Ticket Orders will be taken on October 18th and 19th at lunch
time in room D224.  Ticket prices are $16 for $32.00 value ticket.
