Administration

1. Students and Staff- Make-up photo IDs will take place again on
September 18th. Last Chance!  Don't miss it! The time is 2:30-5:30
p.m.  Don't miss this date!  Look for the portable between the gym and
the G building.

2. BHS Mathworks - Opens this week! Algebra I and Geometry Tutoring
Emphasis, all math questions welcome.  Tuesday and Thursday, 3:15
-4:30 p.m., room H109 in Scott Willson's room.  Questions go to
kspivey at ix.netcom.com.

3. Mathworks needs you!  Get community service, tutoring credits and
be a leader.  Come tutor at Willard, Tuesdays 3-4:30 p.m., starting
October 1.  Contact Mark Lee at Willardmathworks at gmail.com.

4. Make sure your vote counts!  Vote on one of two musicals being
considered for the Spring show.  "Grease" or "Company-by Stephen
Sondheim."   Sign your vote up on the Drama Callboard - 1st floor, A
building.

5. If you were enrolled in Mr. Miller's English classes last year, you
may pick up your work folders on Monday and Friday, after school from
3:20 -4:25 p.m., for the next two weeks.

Clubs

1.  Are you a CHESS NUT?  Have you always wanted to learn or improve
your chess?  Now's your chance to make your move!  Come to C-125 any
Thursday (starting this week) from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m.  Chess is a hip,
sexy, international game with endless benefits that include improved
academic success.  Don't miss out!

2. Hey photographers, come to Photo Club to share your images and
inspiration.  We will meet weekly on Tuesdays at lunch in H103,
starting this week.  See you there!

3. Are you interested in international issues and meeting people from
all over the world?  If the answer is yes then join the Model United
Nations Club!  Come today in C233 for an impromptu info session for
past members and inquiring ones!  Don't miss out on the fun!

4. Youth for Christ club!  First meeting this Friday the 14th! Room
G302 at lunch.

5. Science club meeting on Friday.  Be there!

6. To all sophomores, juniors and seniors of Academic Choice: come and
be a mentor.  Get tutoring and community service credit.  We will be
going into AC freshman English classes once a month.  If you didn't

7.  Are you interested in learning more about French Culture?  DO you
like French movies or food?   Or do you just like having fun?  If so,
be sure to come to French club every Friday at lunch in C102.  Also,

Freshman Section

*1. Class of 2011, BHS leadership is looking for you!  If you are

Senior / Junior Section

1. SENIORS - Sign up in the College/Career Center to attend these
college visits.  You must get an authorization (Available in D221)
signed by the teacher whose class you will miss.

2.  FREE SAT TEST PREP CLASSES- People's test Preparation Service will
be offering free SAT prep classes beginning on Tuesday, September 18.
Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
in room G302 for 10 weeks.  No registration is necessary.

3. Juniors and Seniors: Military "opt out" forms are available in the
front office.  Please fill out this form if you do not want your name,
address, or phone number disclosed to the military.  If you already
have done so at this year's assembly, there is no need to do this
again.

4. Scholarships- Sinkler Miller Medical Association scholarship- open
to seniors who are SF Bay Area residents with a minimum cumulative GPA
of 3.0 who have financial need.  12 scholarships of $1,000 - $1,500
will be awarded.  Deadline: September 20.  Applications available in
D221.

5. Good Tidings Community Service Scholarship - open to seniors who
live in the SF Bay Area, have participated in community service and
have financial need.  Scholarships range from $2,500 to $5,000.  .
Deadline is November 9th. Applications available in D221.

6. Ron Brown Scholarship Program - open to black or African American
seniors who have shown leadership, commitment to public service and a
desire to make a difference, have financial need and are a US citizen
or permanent resident. Scholarship is for $10,000 per year for four
years.  The deadline is November 1 to be eligible for other
scholarships through the Ron Brown program or January 9, 2008 for the
Ron Brown Scholarship only.  Applications available in D221.


Events / Performances

1.  Zoo Careers Night, Friday, September 21, 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the
Oakland Zoo.  Find out firsthand what working in a zoo is like and
find out how you can get there yourself.  The program is designed for
teenagers (ages 12-19). Adults may attend, but only to accompany or
chaperone their teens.  A chaperone is not required for teens to
attend.  Cost: $15 teenagers; $7 adults;  For more information,

2.  It's a new school year and that means Spirit Week is coming up!
If you are interested in dancing, or choreographing a dance for
sophomore class of 2010, then contact Ms. Jordan in D148.


JOBS

1. Student workers needed- Work at Berkeley Natural Food Store.  For
more information, pls contact.

2. King Middle School After school ELL Tutorial is looking for Spanish
bilingual tutors who can work from 3-4, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday,
and from 2:15-3:15 on Wednesday.  We'll also hire monolingual English
speaking tutors who want to patiently work with middle school
students. You must be good in Pre-Algebra and Algebra and/or Science.
You must be in the 11th or 12th grade and able to get to King in time!
Pay-$9.00/hour.  Come by the Science Building, room 7 and ask for
Patricia Rathwell or Akemi Hamai, or call 644-4811.

3.  Albany Physical Therapy has an opening for a student to work 15-18
hours per week (approximately 3 hours per day, Monday-Friday).  The
student is responsible for filing, faxing, copying, laundry,
straightening up treatment rooms and other miscellaneous jobs.
Contact Sherry at 526-2353.  Wages: $8/hour.

4.  City of El Cerrito has immediate openings for jobs working with
all ages of children in a variety of recreation settings.  Students
must be at least 16 years old.  Flexible scheduling around school
schedules.  Pay $10.25 - $14.86 per hour depending on experience.
