2. If you are planning your summer vacations, remember these dates:
   School begins August 29, 2007 for the new fall school year.
   Freshman orientation: Tuesday, August 21, 2007
   Sophomore orientation: Wednesday, August 22, 2007
   Junior orientation: Thursday, August 23, 2007
   Senior orientation: Friday, August 24, 2007 I hope this helps you
plan for the summer.

3. Attention all students: The final days to receive an ID picture is
today, June 6 and Friday, June 8th at lunch and after school.  There
will be no more ID's printed after Friday.  You must pay Ms. Reed in
D173 before receiving an ID.

4. Students enrolled in AP Language and Composition for the 2007-2008
school year, you must pick up your Summer Reader from Mr. Bye in Room
C219 during lunch today, June 6th;  Thursday, June 7th; or Friday,
June 8.  You cannot take the course without doing the work in this
reader.

5. Attention BHS Students: Ed 1 is a college class that's being
offered at BHS next year.  It examines the role, history, and
implementation of education in our society.  Get 10 high school
credits and 3 college credits for taking this class.  Talk to your
counselor  for more information.

6. The Berkeley High Student Court is looking for advocates!  In case
you didn't know, the BHSC is a program that is based on the principles
of Restorative Justice.  Be a part of this program next year by
filling out an application in OCI.

7. Calling all sophomores in SSJE, AHA, CAS, and CPA. Apply for the
Public School Multi-Cultural Youth Leadership Institute!  This week
long program will address issues of race, class, diversity, and
multi-culturalism and will take place in mid August..and it's FREE!
Its going to be an amazing leadership opportunity and will be great
for you to put on your college applications or resumes.  The deadline
has been extended to next Friday, June 8th.  Pick up and return
applications to Mr. Cagan in A105.


Clubs

*1. Earphone English- Last meeting of the year.  Please return any
audio books you have and come say goodbye and get your end of the year
gift!

1. Summer Twilight Basketball League:  MLK Jr Youth Center June 22,
2007- September 1, 2007

Senior / Junior Section

1. Seniors - Acheivers will be here June 5th and 7th so make sure you
get your cap and gown!

2. Seniors- Canon Jones Memorial Scholarship- students must have been
in either the Berkeley Boosters/Police Activities league, CAS at
Berkeley High or a member of the Southside Church of Christ in
Richmond and accepted at a four year college or university.  Two
scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded and are renewable.
Recommendations and essays required.  Applications available in D221.
Deadline: June 22.


Events/Performances

1. Students, bring all your extra books for a book drive.  Your
contributions will go to prisoners who desperately need books.  Book
collection boxes will be in classrooms, or can be directly given to
Laura Peper or Samantha Cook.

2. Final concert of the year for the BHS Jazz Programs.  Please join
us for music from Lab Band I, Lab Band II, Lab Band Combos, Ensemble
Combos and the Jazz Ensemble.  The final concert is always an exciting
event, and the musicians are proud to show everyone their final
product after all their hard work.  Also, there are many laughs and
tears as the seniors say goodbye.  So come and enjoy the show with us
on Friday, June 8th at 7 pm.
Doors open at 6:30 pm at Little Theater on Allston Way on the BHS
campus.  Food and beverages will be for sale before concert and at
intermissions.
BHS students, faculty and staff are Free.  Non-BHS Students $3.
General Admission $10.


JOBS

1. California Youth Energy Services - Summer job to educate adults
about ways to conserve energy and water.  No soliciting involved.
Begins June 25 for 7 weeks.  Applications available in D221.  For more

and have an accessible vehicle.

2. Math Works Coordinators Needed at Willard Middle School- will
satisfy community service, tutoring hours, leadership and provide
recommendations.  Three hours a week and lots of fun.  Contact Karen

3. Recreation jobs- the City of El Cerrito has immediate openings for
students working with children of all ages in various recreation
settings - summer and year round employment available.  Applicants
must be at least 16 years old.  Apply at the El Cerrito Community
Center, 7007 Moeser Lane, El Cerrito 94530 or email resume to Cori
Diaz at [ mailto:cdiaz at ci.el-cerrito.cs.us ]. Pay $7.83 - $14.87 per
hour depending on qualifications and experience.
