2. Would you like to be an announcer for the student daily bulletin
next school year? If so, tryouts will take place, Wednesday, May 30th
at 7:30 am on the football field. Please wear gym clothes for this
audition. We will explain when you arrive.
3. Join Berkeley High students and community activists for the
program "Young People United: Resisting War, Resisting Violence,"
Thursday, May 17th. Free dinner for youth at 6 pm, program begins at
7 pm. Everyone welcome. $5 - 20 donation requested of adults, free

4. Summer School applications are available in the Counseling Office
and at the Parent Volunteer Desk in the Administration office.
Priority Registration ends May 25. Please see your counselor and sign
up ASAP.
5. Do you or someone you know need a prom dress? Stop by D148 and
cone take a look. Dresses from Biscotti are available.
Clubs
1. Attention Berkeley High! The student court is recruiting for next
year. If you or someone you know, would be a great student court
advocate, come to H104 and pick up an application from David Luu.
Student court is a great way for students to get involved in the
community while building leadership skills and getting credits.
*2. Attention Culture and Exchange members: the Ropes Course is
coming. If you haven't got your permission slip, come right away to
Room C107 and get both permission slips for the Ropes Course on
Wednesday, May 16. Also, please come to a quick lunch-time meeting in
C105 on Tuesday to go over final details. Spotters ready? Climb on!
3. This Wednesday is the last condom club of the school year! Don't
miss your last chance to learn the facts about HIV, STI's and how to
be safe at lunch on May 16th. Remember, you must attend the entire
lunch period to get a sticker on the back of your ID. Snacks will be
served! Brought to you by PASSHEN.
Sports
*1. Congratulations to the boys volleyball team who placed first in the
ACCAL and earned a berth to the NCS Tournament. They play Grenada in the
Donahue Gym at 7 pm Tuesday. Tickets are $8 adult/ $6 student. Come out
and support your Yellowjackets.
*2. This weekend BHS crew heads for the US Rowing Southwest Regional
Championships at Lake Natoma to compete against 29 other teams. BHS will
have boats racing in 24 different categories with some opportunities to
qualify for the US Rowing National Youth Championships. To see results

3. Congratulations to the Girls Softball team on a fabulous season
thus far. They are currently tied for first with Alameda in the ACCAL
and headed for their second straight appearance in the NCS
Championships. They play the next three games on the road and, if
they win all of them, will likely play a league playoff game on
Saturday, May 19th at Alameda. Stay tuned for great reports on the
Girls Softball Team!

Senior / Junior Section
1. College visits to Berkeley High - Sign up in D221 to attend college
presentations. You must also pick up an authorization form for your
teacher to sign so that you may miss his or her class.
Visitors:
May 14, 1:20 - representative from the US Navy will be available in
the College/Career Center to speak to seniors. Sign up in advance in
D221.
*2. June 1 - Last day for students to turn in a Transcript Request Form to
Ms. Mellion in D173 so that we can send an official transcript to the
school you will be attending in the fall. Write "FINAL TRANSCRIPT" in
capital letters across the top of the form and paper clip it to a stamped
business size envelope addressed to the college, with Berkeley High School
(1980 Allston Way, Berkeley 94704) as the return address. If you are
under 18, please remember to have your parent or guardian sign the request
form. All colleges require that students send them a final transcript
confirming their senior year grades.
*3. For Juniors- if you haven't yet signed up for an appointment with your
College Advisor, it's not too late! There are now many appointment slots
available. Come to the college/Career Center to sign up. If your last
name begins with A-La, sign up with Ms. Abrams, for Le- Z, sign up with
Mr. Saraceno. We both also have shorter drop-in appointments every day at
lunch and after school for all juniors and seniors.
4. Are you planning to attend UC Berkeley next year? If so, then apply
for the Fullwood Scholarship. Four students from Berkeley High School will
each be awarded a $2,000 scholarship. Applications are available from Ms.
Harris in D221. No essay necessary. Priority is given to students who
have financial need. Deadline: May 17.
5. Are you interested in being senior prom King or Queen? There will be
an informational for candidates this Friday during lunch in D148.
Events/ Performance
Jazz on 4th street, Sunday, May 20th, 2007. The 11th Annual
Festival takes place from noon - 5:00 pm on fourth street in Berkeley
between Hearst and Virginia. This free outdoor music festival
benefits the Berkeley High Performing Arts and award winning BHS Jazz
Ensemble and Combos. The music on 2 stages starts with the BHS
combos, followed by the classic jazz sounds of Marcus Shelby,
legendary R and B from Sugar Pie DeSanto, Latin jazz Ensemble. Join
us for a wonderful afternoon of fun, food and music.

students working with children of all ages in various recreation
settings- summer and year round employment available. Applicants must
