2. Summer School applications are available in the Counseling Office
and at the Parent Volunteer Desk in the Administration office.
Priority Registration ends May 25. Please see your counselor and sign
up ASAP.
3. Do you or someone you know need a prom dress? Stop by D148 and
cone take a look. Dresses from Biscotti are available.
Clubs
1. Attention Berkeley High! The student court is recruiting for next
year. If you or someone you know, would be a great student court
advocate, come to H104 and pick up an application from David Luu.
Student court is a great way for students to get involved in the
community while building leadership skills and getting credits.
*2. This Wednesday is the last condom club of the school year! Don't
miss your last chance to learn the facts about HIV, STI's and how to
be safe at lunch on May 16th. Remember, you must attend the entire
lunch period to get a sticker on the back of your ID. Snacks will be
served! Brought to you by PASSHEN.
Sports
1. Varsity Baseball vs Pinole Valley at Evans Diamond at UC Berkeley,
5:00 pm on Friday. We need your support, please come out and support
your team.
2. Are you a dancer with some school spirit? Would you be interested
in a dance team at BHS? Are you spunky, but not a cheerleader type?
Come by D148 for more details.
*3. Congratulations to the Girls Softball team on a fabulous season
thus far. They are currently tied for first with Alameda in the ACCAL
and headed for their second straight appearance in the NCS
Championships. They play the next three games on the road and, if
they win all of them, will likely play a league playoff game on
Saturday, May 19th at Alameda. Stay tuned for great reports on the
Girls Softball Team!

Senior/Junior Section
1. College visits to Berkeley High - Sign up in D221 to attend college
presentations. You must also pick up an authorization form for your
teacher to sign so that you may miss his or her class.
Visitors:
May 14, 1:20 - representative from the US Navy will be available in
the College/Career Center to speak to seniors. Sign up in advance in
D221.
2. Seniors- don't forget to turn in your Senior Awards ceremony form
by this Thursday, May 10 so that you can participate in the Senior
Awards Ceremony. The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 22 at 7:00
pm in the Community Theater. We want to honor all of our seniors who
have won any awards, including those from teachers and counselors, or
scholarships you have received during your high school years. It is a
wonderful way for you to get the acknowledgement you deserve and
celebrate with many years.

3. Juniors and Sophomores - Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project,
Inc. Summer conference will be held from Jul7 28 - August 4 in
Sacramento. During the conference, you will spend a day at the state
capital and learn about the legislative process, learn skills to
organize and run a political campaign and attend a college fair where
you can meet with admission staff and financial experts. You will
also learn about Chicano Latino History and learn leadership skills.
Attendance at the conference is California high school for 2006-2007
academic year, currently be in either 10th or 11th grade and have not
previously attended the conference.
All applications must be postmarked by May 11- This Friday.

4. Are you interested in being senior prom King or Queen? There will
be an informational for candidates this Friday during lunch in D148.
Events/Performances
1. Beads, Love, Freedom, Happiness and Hair, lot's of hair. Come see
"Hair," your tribal love Rock Musical. Last two performances May 11
and 12 at 8 PM. Please come see this dynamic performance. Tickets on
sale at box office before performances. $7.00 for teachers, students
and seniors. $15 general admission. Little Theater at Berkeley High.
*2. Funky BUS and the U turns will be performing at Jefferson School
Mayfair, Saturday, May 12th at 12 Noon. Come support this BHS band
playing their unique tunes of R&B /Funk/Rock. Jefferson school is
located at 1400 Ada St in Berkeley.
3. Jazz on 4th street, Sunday, May 20th, 2007. The 11th Annual
Festival takes place from noon - 5:00 pm on fourth street in Berkeley
between Hearst and Virginia. This free outdoor music festival
benefits the Berkeley High Performing Arts and award winning BHS Jazz
Ensemble and Combos. The music on 2 stages starts with the BHS
combos, followed by the classic jazz sounds of Marcus Shelby,
legendary R and B from Sugar Pie DeSanto, Latin jazz Ensemble. Join
us for a wonderful afternoon of fun, food and music.

1. Yearbooks are going fast, get yours now! Beginning May 8th
yearbooks will be on sale during lunch, Tuesday - Thursdays on the
Community Theater steps until the end of the month cost is $80.

Jobs
1. Small law office in Emeryville is seeking a student, preferably a
senior, for part time filing work. Must be reliable, personable,
conscientious and pay close attention to detail, have good verbal
communication and available a minimum of two days per week four to
five hours per day. Pays $9 per hour, contact Judy at 510-595-7900.
2. Social Security Administration in Richmond is hiring 10 or more
students for general office work. Applications available in D221.
Students from low income families will receive priority in hiring.
Students must be 16 years old with a minimum of 2.0 GPA.
3. Recreation jobs- the City of El Cerrito has immediate openings for
students working with children of all ages in various recreation
settings- summer and year round employment available. Applicants must
