JUNIORS AND SOPHOMORES: IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SPRING TESTING

SAT l and SAT II Subject tests are scheduled this year for May 5th
-- with a regular registration deadline of MARCH 29 -- and June 2nd
with regular registration deadline of April 27. Register online for
your SAT l and SAT II Subject tests at http://www.collegeboard.com

Most selective colleges (and the University of California) require
the SAT l or the ACT with writing, as well as, at least two SAT II
Subject Tests. It's a very good strategy to take the SAT Reasoning
Test in either May or June of the junior year. Please remember that
a student cannot take both the SAT Reasoning Test and Subject Tests
on the same date. For UC/private college applicants can take the
Reasoning Test in May and a set of Subject Tests in June.

The SAT II subject tests must be in two different areas, chosen from
the following: English, history and social studies, science,
mathematics (level II only), or language other than English. If you
are currently taking an AP (Advanced Placement) or Honors class, this
would probably be an excellent preparation
for the SAT II Subject Test. Try to schedule your SAT II Subjects
test as close to the AP exam as possible (so that the material is
fresh).

AP exams are scheduled this year at BHS between May 7th and May 18th.
SAT II Subject tests are scheduled this year for May 5th -- with a
regular registration deadline of March 29th!! -- and June 2nd.

It is not necessary for sophomores to take the SAT Reasoning Test or
the ACT at this time.

But SOPHMORES should consider taking SAT Subject Tests this spring,
especially if the student is completing Advanced Biology and not
planning to take AP Biology next year. In addition, students who are
completing their foreign language sequence or their college-prep
math sequence may also wish to take a Subject Test in one or both of
those areas.

Preparation for these exams is highly recommended. Take a practice
test to by visiting http://www.collegeboard.com for a free on-line
test. Test preparation books with practice tests are available in the
College and Career Center for your use.

Here are the registration test dates and DEADLINES for this spring.

Please remember that a student may also take the ACT (American College

universities will take the student's better score. For the UC system,
however, a student must also take the ACT Writing segment (an optional part
of the test).
