STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN
March 12, 2007

Administration

1. Wednesday, March 14th and Thursday, March 15th in C219 promptly at
3:30 pm there will be a student-led session about AP classes.  Come
hear from students like Kara Murray and Amelia Starr about their
experiences in AP Classes to see if you are interested for next year.

*2. CAHSEE is happening March 20th and 21st for 10th, 11th and 12th
grade students who have not passed or who missed the test in February.

*3. Berkeley High, it's your turn to help!  Donate your spare change
and dollars to Pennies for Patients-an organization that financially
supports kids with Cancer.  Look for students carrying white boxes to
donate.

*4. If you are interested in being Jr. Prom King or Queen come to D148
or look for up coming informational posters. 

*5. Anyone planning on signing up for AP Environmental Science for
2007-2008 school year must attend an informational meeting on
Wednesday or Friday of this week at lunch in G209.

6. Heads up students!  Finding tutoring help is a sign of motivation,
maturity, resourcefulness and determination.  These are qualities a
college or employer is seeking.  Don't wait!
       Algebra I and Geometry Tutoring Emphasis in Room H109, Scott
Willson
       Tues and Thurs 3:15-4:30 PM

       Student Learning Center (SLC) in room D221: All subjects 
       Mon-Fri  3:15-5:30pm

       AP Biology tutoring is in room G305 
	 Thursday, March 15 from 4:30- 5:30 PM.
       No tutoring the week of March 19th and March 28th.

7. City of Berkeley Youthworks will hand out applications for the 2007
Summer Session.  Applications will be available March 5th-March 30th.
Completed applications must be returned by March 30th to be
considered.  Berkeley residents ages 14-21 can apply at 1947 Center St
(basement level) or call 981-4970.

8. Paramount Great America has seasonal positions available. Apply
online at http://www.pgathrills.com .  Students must be at least 15
years old to apply.


Clubs

*1. ATTENTION AC Seniors:  If you are available this week to meet for
an hour or so with younger AC students and to share your AP
experiences, please contact Matt Carton by email.  

*2. LaRaza club is back!  We are meeting on Tuesday, March 13th at
C124 after school to address cultural issues concerning students of
Berkeley High.  Come help organize the upcoming assembly at BHS.

3. Immigrant Rights Day will be one day of unity week in April. Come
help us plan what should happen on Immigrant Rights Day!  We need
volunteers to talk about their experiences as newcomers.


Sports

1. All soccer players: the soccer awards ceremony will take place in
the Food Court on tonight, Monday, March 12th at 6:30 PM.  Please
clear your schedules so you can come pick up your trophies, medals,
letters, and photographs.

*2. The girls basketball team defeated Kennedy of Sacramento 64-50 on
Saturday night in the semi-final round of the Norcal Division I
tournament.  They move on to the Norcal final this Saturday at 6:00 at
the Stockton Arena.  Tickets are $16 adult/ and $10 student/senior.
Parking is $5.  Go Jackets!  

Senior / Junior Section

1. Seniors: The Young Conservatory at American Conservatory Theater is
offering a special scholarship for high school seniors in Alameda
County to attend classes offered in the Spring session (March 19 - May
26, after school and weekend schedule) and their 4-week Summer Session
(daytime classes June 18 - July 13).  The spring class schedule and
scholarship application is available in D221.

2. Latino and Native American Association (LANA) - open to high school
seniors of Latino or Native American descent with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Deadline:  April 2.  $500 scholarship.

3. Anita Baskerville Harris Scholarship Award - open to graduating
African-American females with a minimum GPA of 3.0 with financial
need.  Essay required.  Deadline:  April 2.  Scholarships range from
$500 to $2,000.

4. College visits to Berkeley High- Seniors: Sign up in D221 to attend
college presentations. You must also pick up an authorization form for
your teacher to sign so that you may miss his or her class.

Sales

1. Jr. Prom tickets will be available on the community theatre steps
during lunch and in the box office after school. ($55) if you are
interested in being Jr. Prom King please stop by D148.

2. Prices are $80.00 for yearbooks. Please purchase your yearbooks in
H102 each day. Financial Assistance is also available to those who
qualify see Mr. Knight during 7th in H102 to apply.
