For Parents/Guardians of 9th, 10th and 11th grade Students:

The Berkeley High School Curriculum Night is this Thursday, March 8,
from 7:00 pm. to 8:30 pm. 

This is an important opportunity for parents to be involved in
planning their student's future course choices at Berkeley High.  The
evening will begin in the Community Theatre with a brief introduction,
after which you will have the opportunity to get more in-depth
information on the course choices your students will have when they
are pre-registering for the coming academic year (2007-2008). You will
be able to choose the presentations that are of most interest to you
and to them, and be more informed about their choices for next year.

Next week counselors will be meeting with ninth grade AC students in
class to create their Individual Learning Plan, diagramming their
academic path through the next three years at Berkeley High. Students
in all grades will start on-line registration for next year during the
last two weeks of this month, March 19-30. Pre-registration letters
will be sent home during spring break (April 2- 6) for parents to
review. Students will have the week after spring break (April 9-13) --
ONE WEEK ONLY -- to make schedule changes in the computer lab after
school.

We highly recommend that parents/guardians review the minimum
requirements for admission to the University of California with their
students(available on-line at www.bhsacademicchoice.com - click on
Preparing for College) so that they understand that BHS graduation
requirements are very different from requirements for admission to
most selective colleges. Please also help your student plan for a
manageable balance between the demands of a rigorous academic load and
their personal and extracurricular activities.
