ACOE: Art IS Education Symposium: March 9 and 10
"It's a whole new world for California schools! How do I find my place in it?"
Join teachers, artists, & administrators to make connections for arts
learning partnerships and plan for new state arts education funding.
The Art IS Education Symposium on March 9 and 10 marks Alameda County
Office of Education's 8th annual celebration of youth learning in and
through the arts. This celebratory event will feature David Perkins
(professor, senior researcher, and an acclaimed academic on
educational leadership from Harvard's Project Zero) Friday, March 9th
at a reception and presentation from 5:30pm - 8:30pm at Mills College
Concert Hall. David Perkins will talk about "Whole Game Learning".
Superintendent Sheila Jordan will present Arts Learning Leadership
Awards to Berkeley, Oakland and Emery School districts as they are
playing a leadership role in bringing systems and structures for
equitable classrooms through arts learning for every child, in every
school, every day. (Superintendent Michele Lawrence receives an
award for the Berkeley Arts Learning Anchor School Initiative on
Friday night).

Arts Learning Leadership Awards and celebrating 15 years of quality
dance education by Luna Kids Dance

Panel Discussion, Peer Sharing and work from Arts Learning Anchor
Schools
Strategic Planning for Quality Arts Learning making effective use of
new state funding
