Administration

*1. Live music today on the community theater steps with the Bay Area's own
local group, The Vein.  Come out and support local talent on one of the
first stops of their tour.  Also any young ladies interested in performing
in a International Women's Day Tribute, please stop by D148 for more
details.

*2. BHS students looking for Community Service, Math Tutoring hours and a
gratifying experience, come to MathWorks at Willard Middle School.  Note
new days are Monday and Tuesdays from 3-4 pm.  For more information email

3. The MORP is coming!  So, everyone come out for more of a reason to party
with the NHT Boyz.  Presale tickets on sale now for $7 and $10 at the
door.  Student ID required.

4. Heads up students!  Finding tutoring help is a sign of motivation,
maturity, resourcefulness and determination.  These are qualities a
college or employer is seeking.  Don't wait!

The March tutoring schedule is Wednesday, March 7 and Thursday, March 15.
No tutoring the week of March 19th and March28th.

5. Audition for Jazz Lab Band II A will be held on Thursday, March 1st for
Saxes.  All auditions will be held in the A building in room A201.  For

6. Sophomores - Do you want to engage in hands-on leadership training?
Intern at a professional work place?  Meet diverse youth from the Bay
Area?  Get the skills and experience to be a change-maker in your
community?  Stand out in your college applications?  Earn a $1,000
stipend?  Coro's  Exploring Leadership. A full-time summer and part
time fall program, will allow you to do all and more.  Go to [

Clubs

*1. Hey all you Asian Pacific Islander Committee members!  There will be an
APIC meeting today at lunch in room C327 so make sure to go!  We will be
going over the APIC bake sale that will take place on Friday.  Also for
all you out there, please go to the APIC bake sale on Friday at lunch!

*2. Come to French Club every Friday at lunch in room C102!  Everyone is
welcome to come and have a great time.

*3 Listen up:  Berkeley High Youth Together is having a meeting today, after
school in A205.  We are getting ready for our peace and justice week.  If
you are interested in planning our peace and justice week, come to
our meeting today!

*4. We are back: Mandatory Baking Club meeting Monday, March 5.  We are
meeting after school in Mr. Collier's room.  If you can't make it you must
contact Hannah or Anna to let them know!

5. The Community Partnerships Academy (CPA) Small School needs your
help.  We are looking for donations of SAT prep materials.  SAT Study
Guides are particularly welcomed.  Please bring them to H202 anytime.

Sports

1. Varsity soccer players please wash and return your equipment as soon as
possible to Coach Juarez in C127.  Pick up your t-shirts from Coach Juarez
in C127.

2. All soccer players: the soccer awards ceremony will take place in the
Food Court on Monday, March 5th at 6:30 pm.  Please clear your schedules
so you can come pick up your trophies, medals, letters, and photographs.


Senior / Junior Section

1. Seniors: The Young Conservatory at American Conservatory Theater is
offering a special scholarship for high school seniors in Alameda
County to attend classes offered in the Spring session (March 19 - May
26, after school and weekend schedule) and their 4-week Summer Session
(daytime classes June 18 - July 13).  The spring class schedule and
scholarship application is available in D221.

2. Scholarship Opportunities for Seniors- Sigma Pi Alpha Sorority
Scholarship-open to seniors from a Chicana/Latina background with an
unweighted GPA of at least 2.5 who will be attending a two or four year
college or vocational school in the fall.  US citizenship or permanent
residency is NOT a requirement.   Deadline: April 1.  Scholarship: $250.

3. East Bay Consortium Scholarship - Open to seniors planning to 
attend a two or four year accredited college with a minimum GPA of 
2.8 if planning to attend a four year college or 2.0 if attending a 
community college who have demonstrated active participation in extra 
curricular activities and have financial need.  Deadline:  April 6. 
At least 36 scholarships of $2,500 for students attending a four year 
college and ten scholarships of $1,000 for students attending 
community college.

4. Anita Baskerville Harris Scholarship Award - open to graduating 
African-American females with a minimum GPA of 3.0 with financial 
need.  Essay required.  Deadline:  April 2.  Scholarships range from 
$500 to $2,000.

5. Latino and Native American Association (LANA) - open to high 
school seniors of Latino or Native American descent with a minimum 
2.0 GPA.  Deadline:  April 2.  $500 scholarship.

6. Scholarships- Wa Sung Community Service Club Merit Scholarship
applicant must be a graduating senior of Asian descent residing in Alameda
or Contra Costa County who will be attending college in fall 2007. Seven
to ten scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded.

7. SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES - Americans for Informed Democracy offers a
two-week summer enrichment program for rising juniors and seniors in
high school interested in international relations.  Called Global
Scholar, the program is held at Washington and Lee University in
Lexington, Virginia from July 1-14, 2007.  Global Scholar is a college
prep and leadership development program that builds global competence.
Students hear from global leaders and delve into a World Affairs
curriculum modeled on a college level course.  They will also have the
chance to videoconference with their peers halfway around the world,
visit leading global institutions, journey to foreign countries
through film and devise global campaigns to respond to today's most
pressing global challenges.  Cost $1,600.  Several full and half

8. SENIORS- City College of San Francisco is now accepting
applications for their Culinary Arts ND Hospitality Management
Program.  This is an excellent two year program in which students earn
an Associate of Science Degree and an Award of Achievement in Culinary
Arts, Food Service Management or Hotel Management.  Graduates of this
program have transferred to many different four year colleges to earn
a bachelors degree.  Additional information is available in the

Events/ Performance

*1. It's ITPs time! Come see three one acts independently produced by
Berkeley High students.  Featuring asphyxiation, girl talk, and Perry in
his underwear.  Again. Again.  8pm at the Hillside Club in Berkeley, March
2,3,9 and 10.  Only $5 for students ($10 for others).

*2. Mystery lovers: Come hear Bay Area Mystery Writer Cara Black.  She's
speaking in Mr. Bye's Short Story class.  Now you can hear her read from
her latest thriller and find out the secret of her success, Monday, March
5 at 7:30 pm at Black Oak Books.

3. JUNIOR PROM-Tickets will be available until March 2nd during
lunch and after school.  Early bird price $45.00.

4. Actors: Calling all actors. Sign up for three Drama opportunities, 1st
floor A building.  Don't be left out of the Drama  action for next year.

5. Class of 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, the MORP or backwards PROM is
almost here!  Presale tickets available form $7.00 in the box office
during lunch and after school.


Sales

1.	Prices are $80.00 for yearbooks. Please purchase your yearbooks in H102
each day. Financial Assistance is also available to those who qualify see
Mr. Knight during 7th in H102 to apply.

2.	Class of 2007- Senior spellout pictures are still available.  $5 each.
