Administration

1. The MORP, or backwards prom, is coming March 9th!  So everyone come
out for more of a reason to party with the NHT Boyz.  Presale tickets
on sale now for $7, and $10 at the door.  Student ID required.  All
BHS students are welcome to attend.

*2. Heads up students!  Finding tutoring help is a sign of motivation,
maturity, resourcefulness and determination.  These are qualities a
college or employer is seeking.  Don't wait!

3. There are going to be Berkeley High Student Court trials next week
on Monday the 26th and Wednesday the 28th.  All Berkeley High Students
are encouraged to attend.  They take place at 5:30 pm in the Old City
Hall building across the street from MLK Park on the second floor.  We
need student jurors to participate in the trials.  Come through if
you're interested.

4. Sophomores - Do you want to engage in hands-on leadership training?
Intern at a professional work place?  Meet diverse youth from the Bay
Area?  Get the skills and experience to be a change-maker in your
community?  Stand out in your college applications?  Earn a $1,000
stipend?  Coro's  Exploring Leadership. A full-time summer and part
time fall program, will allow you to do all and more.  Go to [

application.  Priority Application Deadline: March 1.  Regular
Application Deadline: March 15.

5. Celebrate Black History Month by learning more about American
history.  What part of New York City became a popular place for
African- American artists, writers and musicians ion the 1920s?  Come
to the library to find the answer and then fill out an answer sheet.
Students who get all weekly questions right will get a prize at the
end of the month.

6. Looking for a job?  Must be a tenth grader with a GPA of 2.5 or
better; See Belinda McDaniel for more details and a job application.

7. Paramount Great America has seasonal positions available. Apply
online at [ http://www.pgathrills.com ].  Students must be at least 15
years old to apply.


Clubs

*1. If you like to sing, come to chorus Tuesdays at lunch in A5, the
chorus room.

2. The Community Partnerships Academy (CPA) Small School needs your
help.  We are looking for donations of SAT prep materials.  SAT Study
Guides are particularly welcomed.  Please bring them to H202 anytime.

3. BHS students! Are you in a band?  Do you want an opportunity to

Sports

*1. Varsity soccer players please wash and return your equipment as
soon as possible to Coach Juarez in C127.  Pick up your t-shirts from
Coach Juarez in C127.

*2. All soccer players: the soccer awards ceremony will take place in
the Food Court on Monday, March 6th at 6:30 pm.  Please clear your
schedules so you can come pick up your trophies, medals, letters, and
photographs.


Senior / Junior Section 

1. Seniors!  Do you want your own page in the yearbook?!  Go order one
today in H102 after school with the yearbook crew.  Fill up pages with
pics of you, your friends or your family.  Single pages are $125 and
double page spreads are $250.  Go order spots today, because they are
limited.

2. Seniors: The Young Conservatory at American Conservatory Theater is
offering a special scholarship for high school seniors in Alameda
County to attend classes offered in the Spring session (March 19 - May
26, after school and weekend schedule) and their 4-week Summer Session
(daytime classes June 18 - July 13).  The spring class schedule and
scholarship application is available in D221.

3. Scholarships - Wa Sung Community Service Club Merit Scholarship -
applicant must be a graduating senior of Asian descent residing in
Alameda or Contra Costa County who will be attending college in fall
2007. Seven to ten scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded.

4. SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES - Americans for Informed Democracy offers a
two-week summer enrichment program for rising juniors and seniors in
high school interested in international relations.  Called Global
Scholar, the program is held at Washington and Lee University in
Lexington, Virginia from July 1-14, 2007.  Global Scholar is a college
prep and leadership development program that builds global competence.
Students hear from global leaders and delve into a World Affairs
curriculum modeled on a college level course.  They will also have the
chance to videoconference with their peers halfway around the world,
visit leading global institutions, journey to foreign countries
through film and devise global campaigns to respond to today's most
pressing global challenges.  Cost $1,600.  Several full and half

5. Seniors!  Put your UC essays to work while you wait to hear from
colleges.  Last year the College and Career Center published a
collection of College Admission Essays (in a book called True
Admissions) as a fund raiser to help future BHS students.  We have
earned close to $7,000 and are now working on a second edition of the
book.  This time we want to put more emphasis on the complete UC
package (three questions, 1,000 words).  Please consider submitting
your essays for consideration.  We need your essays NOW but the book
will not come out until long after you hear from colleges.  Think of

6. SENIORS- City College of San Francisco is now accepting
applications for their Culinary Arts ND Hospitality Management
Program.  This is an excellent two year program in which students earn
an Associate of Science Degree and an Award of Achievement in Culinary
Arts, Food Service Management or Hotel Management.  Graduates of this
program have transferred to many different four year colleges to earn
a bachelors degree.  Additional information is available in the
College Career Center and at www.ccsf.edu/cahs or by calling
415-239-3152.  Application deadline is April 9th.

9. FAFSA workshops, please sign up in D221 to attend.  Then you can
fill out the requested information and know what your questions are.

Events/ Performance

1. JUNIOR PROM - Jr. Prom tickets will be available until March 2nd
during lunch and after school.  Early bird price $45.00.  Reminder:
Prom date is April 21st, at the Bayside Pavillion in Alameda.

2. Class of 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, the MORP or backwards PROM is
almost here!  Presale tickets available form $7.00 in the box office
during lunch and after school.


Sales

1. Prices are $80.00 for yearbooks. Please purchase your yearbooks in
H102 each day. Financial Assistance is also available to those who
qualify see Mr. Knight during 7th in H102 to apply.

2. Class of 2007 - Senior spellout pictures are still available.  $5
each.  Come to D148 and pick up one.
