The Alameda County Office of Education's Alliance for Arts Learning
Leadership invites you to the Art Is Education Symposium on March 9
and 10.
Superintendent Michele Lawrence will be receiving an award on behalf
of Berkeley Unified School District's Leadership in bringing all the
arts back for every child in every school every day!

The Art IS Education Symposium on marks Alameda County Office of
Education's 8th annual celebration of youth learning in and through
the arts. This celebratory event will feature David Perkins
(professor, senior researcher, and an acclaimed academic on
educational leadership from Harvard's Project Zero) Friday, March 9th
at a reception and presentation from 5:30pm-8:30pm at Mills College
Concert Hall. David Perkins will talk about "Whole Game Learning".
Superintendent Sheila Jordan will present Arts Learning Leadership
Awards to Berkeley, Oakland and Emery School districts as they are
playing a leadership role in bringing systems and structures for
equitable classrooms through arts learning for every child, in every
school, every day.
Saturday, March 10 the Art is Education Symposium features:
professional development panels with Dr. Lois Hetland from Harvard's
Project Zero and educators from Arts Learning Anchor Schools in
Oakland, Berkeley and Emery School Districts
workshops and a resource fair for administrators, teachers, artists,
parents and arts providers learning how to make the best of new
historic state funding for arts learning in California - 600 million
dollars in 2007
The Art Is Education Symposium is Co Sponsored by Mills College,
ACOE's History and Social Studies Network, and the Arts Education
Initiative at UC Berkeley.
