[BHS etree] ADMIN: Berkeley Police warn BHS parents

The Berkeley Police Department traffic division contacted Principal Slemp on
Wednesday asking the school to alert BHS parents that many are in violation
of the law when they drop their children off in the morning.

"We will be issuing citations," warn the police.   "The driver may in fact
be unaware they are receiving a citation until it comes in the mail  (this
is for those parents who drive off while the citation is being written)."

Many parents double park obstructing traffic and park in the red and blue
zones along Bancroft Way, by Washington School, Mlk Jr Way, and Allston Way.
These are the hot spots  The safe place to drop students off is along Milvia
Street which has been designated as the drop off-pick up location.  "The
morning is the worst," write the police, "while dropping off  kids.  Picking
them up is not as bad  but still a problem.

Please be careful while dropping off and collecting your children!
