Administration

*1. NO SCHOOL MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19TH!  Presidents Day Holiday.

2. The MORP or backwards prom is coming March 9th!  Tickets will be
available soon.  All BHS students are welcome to attend.  See ya there!

3. Celebrate Black History Month by learning more about American history.
In what year did President Lincoln sign the Emancipation Proclamation?
Come to the library to find the answer and then fill out an answer sheet.
Students who get all weekly questions right will get a prize at the end of
the month.

4. Do you like making easy money?  Local painting business is looking 
for marketers.
No experience necessary, will train.  Average pay is $10-$12/ hr.

Clubs

1. BHS students! Are you in a band?  Do you want an opportunity to show
your talent.  Come by room D148 for more details.

2. The crossword puzzle is no longer going to appear in the Jacket!  An
enormous vacancy is going to open on the Front page!  The crossword puzzle
in the February edition will be the last one ever!  The Jacket desperately
needs something in its place.  Please go to G105 with ideas or suggestions.

3. The HAIR cast list is posted on the theater bulletin board on the first
floor of the A-building.

4. The Community Partnerships Academy (CPA) Small School needs your
help. We are looking for donations of SAT prep materials.  SAT Study
Guides are particularly welcomed.  Please bring them to H202 anytime.

5. To all students interested in the free Nicaragua trip with Building
with Books: the deadline has been extended to February 20th.  Come to
the West Gallery during lunch on Tuesdays for more information.


Sports

*1. Congratulations to the girls' and boys' basketball teams for 
taking first in
the ACCAL.  The girls defeated Pinole on Saturday night to earn the
automatic bid to the NCS tournament and earned a #1 seed.  The boys take
on College Park Tuesday, 2/20, at 7:00 in the Donahue Gym.  If they win on
Tuesday, they will play Foothill on Friday 2/23 in a double header at home
with the girls.  No passes are allowed for these special events.  Tickets
are $8 for adults/ $5 for students.  For a complete bracket of the NCS

Senior / Junior Section

1. SENIORS- City College of San Francisco is now accepting applications
for their Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Program.  This is an
excellent two year program in which students earn an Associate of Science
Degree and an Award of Achievement in Culinary Arts, Food Service
Management or Hotel Management.  Graduates of this program have
transferred to many different four year colleges to earn a bachelors
degree.  Additional information is available in the College Career Center
and at www.ccsf.edu/cahs or by calling 415-239-3152.  Application deadline
is April 9th.

2. Seniors!  Put your UC essays to work while you wait to hear from
colleges.  Last year the College and Career Center published a collection
of College Admission Essays (in a book called True Admissions) as a fund
raiser to help future BHS students.  We have earned close to $7,000 and
are now working on a second edition of the book.  This time we want to put
more emphasis on the complete UC package (three questions, 1,000 words).
Please consider submitting your essays for consideration.  We need your
essays NOW but the book will not come out until long after you hear from

3. Seniors - if you applied to San Jose State and haven't done so
already, you must turn in a Transcript Request Form to Ms. Mellion in
D173, along with a stamped envelope addressed to San Jose State, so
that she can send your first semester grades to the school.  They have
just initiated this requirement.

4. FAFSA Financial Aid Workshops - please sign up in D221 to attend.
Then you can fill out the requested information and know what your
questions are.  The dates for the workshops are:

Sales

1. Class of 2007 - Senior spellout pictures are still available.  $5
each. Come to D148 and pick up one.

2. Prices are $80.00 for yearbooks. Please purchase your yearbooks in
H102 each day. Financial Assistance is also available to those who
qualify see Mr. Knight during 7th in H102 to apply.
