1. INFORMATION NIGHT for all Members of THE CLASS OF 2011 and their families
is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 27 from 7 to 9 pm in the Berkeley Community
Theater located on the Berkeley High campus. The information presented at
this event is essential for making informed choices about your student's
program at BHS.
The four small schools and two programs which comprise the comprehensive
school will make presentations during the event. In addition,
representatives from the departments (Math, Science, World Languages, PE,
etc) will be on hand to answer questions as will representatives from many
of the school clubs, athletics and organizations.
Please arrive early in order to secure parking. The presentation will begin
promptly at 7 p.m. in the Community Theater.
2. ENROLLMENT. Following Information Night, students not currently enrolled
in the BUSD should begin the process of enrolling in the district. This
takes place at the Parent Access Office, 1835 Allston Way, and (510)
644-6504. All students must be enrolled in the district before they make
their course selection and enter the lottery for freshmen year
placement. Students currently attending a BUSD feeder School (King,

the high school. This will be done automatically.
3. CURRICULUM NIGHTS at BUSD feeder schools. (King, Longfellow, Willard) 7-
8:30 p.m.
BHS administrators and counselors will meet with students during the day and
parents/guardians in the evening at each of the three BUSD feeder Schools.
The meetings for parents/guardians (not students) will take place on the
following evenings:
King: March 6
Willard: March 7
Longfellow: March 15
The counselors and administrators will discuss the 9th grade curriculum, BHS
graduation and college eligibility requirements, math and science
progressions, course/school selection process. There will be a
question-and-answer period. Students will fill out their course requests
during the day. Parents will have an opportunity to see their child's
requests before they are entered in the lottery.
4. CURRICULUM AND COURSE SELECTION FOR PRIVATE SCHOOL FAMILIES (tentatively
March 22, March 27)
There will be two evening meetings on the BHS campus for parents and
students coming from private and parochial schools. These meetings are
tentatively set for March 22 and March 27. Families should attend one or the
other. Students should attend with their parents. The information covered
will be similar as that presented at the feeder school curriculum
nights. However, at the private school meetings, students will fill out
their course requests and lottery forms on the spot.
5. Lottery entries for both private and public school students will be
processed at the same time. If you have any questions, please contact Janet
Huseby, BHS Volunteer Coordinator at jhuseby at pacbell.net or 527-1130
