STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration

*1. No school- Friday, November 10th for Veteran's Day Holiday.

*2. Picture ID's will be taken tomorrow, Thursday, November 9, 2006 at
lunchtime in the Counseling Center.   If this is your first Berkeley High
ID taken this school year, there will be no fee.  However, there will be a
$5.00 fee for replacement ID's.

3. The Canned Food Drive has started and continues until December 1st.
Bring cans to your second period class.  The class that has the most cans
wins a pizza party.  The cans will be used in the Berkeley High Holiday
Meal or December 9th.

*4. JOBS: Part-time Circuit coach position- 8-10 hours/week at $8 an hour
plus commission, free membership and fun environment.  Must be energetic,
friendly and interested in women's health.  Will train.   1537 Shattuck
Ave  Berkeley, 510-666-0904- ask for Nikki.

Clubs

*1. Listen up Raza Club members.  We have a meeting today at lunch in Ms.
Taylor's room C124.  It's very important.

*2. Come to the newest club at BHS.  CHAOS.  It is the China AIDS orphan
support group.  Meet in room C205 this Thursday at lunch come see what

*3. Model UN is having a bake sale today at lunch on the senior steps.
There will be lots of wonderful baked goods to buy.  Come support our club!

*4. Good morning Berkeley High!  Are you interested in bringing the campus
together?  Do you want to bring social change to the campus?  Are you
concerned about B-High's achievement gap?  Then come thru to Youth
Together's meeting TODAY, after school in A205, to voice your concerns.

*5. Hey all you APICers!  Do not forget to go to the APIC meeting today at
lunch in room C327.  We will go over the social event so don't miss it!
Remember, everyone is welcome so come and have fun.

Sports

*1. All cross country runners please see coach Goodrich in H307 to get
information about team banquet today and how to turn in your uniforms.

*2. All girls interested in playing Berkeley LaCrosse in the spring should
come to an informational meeting on Wednesday 11/15 on the bleachers at
4:00.

*3.  All boys interested in playing Berkeley Tennis in the Spring should
come to an informational meeting on Thursday, 11/16 on the bleachers at
4:00 pm.

*4. Wrestling is still open to all interested BHS boys and girls.  Workouts
are Monday- Friday in the Old Gym Wrestling room from 4:15-6:15.   You
must have a complete physical in order to work out.

5.Do you have used soccer equipment lying around?  Poor kids in Ghana
need your stuff!  Please bring any used cleats, balls, shin guards and
jerseys top the Athletic Directors office before Friday, November 17th,
and they will be shipped to Ghana for kids to use. Help train the next
world cup champions.  At lunch or after school.

Senior / Junior Section

*1. UC Berkeley Personal Statement Workshop, sponsored by the Black
Recruitment and Retention.  Date: November 11, 2006 12-5pm  Report to
Heller Lounge in the MLK Student Union ( 2301 Bancroft Ave).

2. SENIORS- If you are applying to private colleges that need a counselor
recommendation, your envelopes and forms are due in D221 no later than
November 9th.  Questions?  See Mr. Saraceno, Ms. Harris, or Mrs. Abrams.

3. Brown University is offering current 10th, 11th and 12th graders with
strong interest in biology or the physical sciences the opportunity to
study volcanoes, marine science and rainforest ecology in Hawaii.  There
are two trips:  April 6-13 and April 15-22.  For more information, go to [

*4. College visits to Berkeley High- Seniors: Sign up in D221 to attend
college presentations. You must also pick up an authorization form for
your teacher to sign so that you may miss his or her class.

Events/ Performance
1. O de l'ean- a story of water:  Come to the dedication of the new 35
foot long waterwall with kinetic and water elements.  A BHS Jazz Band is
playing from 5:30 to 7:30 pm this Friday.  2020 Kittredge next door to the
Berkeley Main Library.

2. Spirit of Berkeley High- Celebrity Showdown Weekend Benefit
Friday, November 10- MTV's Wild n Out cast hosted by TK Carter featuring
Spanky Hayes, Shorty Short, Dee Ray and Corey Holcomb Berkeley Community
Theater 8 pm.  Special pre-sell BHS Students tickets, $25.00. Purchase at
BHS Athletic Directors office at lunch and after school, This week!
Tickets go on sale to the public October 21st on TicketWeb.com - $22.50
balcony, $27.50 back, $37.50 front, $40.00 pit.
Saturday, November 11- BHS Football games and celebrities Basketball.
BHS JV and Varsity Football against El Cerrito, 11 am and 1pm
BHS Girls basketball team will be scrimmaging Ursaline HS in Donahue.

SALES

1. Prices are $75.00 for yearbooks until November, Thanksgiving holiday
and then will be set at $80.00.  Financial Assistance is available to
those who qualify see Mr. Knight during 7th in H102 to apply.
