STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration

*1. Attention all students!  The Berkeley High Student Court will be
having trials today and Wednesday at five o'clock right across the
street at the Berkeley Unified School District building.  Check in
with your teachers to see if you can get community service hours for
attending!  All those interested are welcome to observe or even serve
on the jury!  Refreshments will be served.  Hope to see you there!

2. The Canned Food Drive has started and continues until December
1st. Bring cans to your second period class.  The class that has the
most cans wins a pizza party.  The cans will be used in the Berkeley
High Holiday Meal or December 9th.


Clubs

*1. Interested in helping your fellow student?  Earning community
credits? Learning new skills?  Learning more about yourself?  Come
see Miss Lovett in H305 or ask your counselor about the peer tutoring
elective for next semester.

*2. Do you have cake? Because we do. We are looking for senior girls
who love to bake,  for Berkeley High's first ever Baking Club.  Learn
new recipes, share and sell baked goods eat cake.  Come join the
Baking Club this week (Wednesday, November 8th after school in C219).
Review sheets for the baking quiz can be picked up this Monday and
Tuesday in C219 and G207 upon request.  Remember to study up!  We
look forward to seeing ya there!


Sports

*1. Tryouts for all Winter Sports begin Monday, November 6.  You must
turn in a completed Athletic packet, including a recent physical, to
the coach by the first day of tryouts.  Questions regarding tryouts
may be directed to the Athletic Office 644-8723.

2. Do you have used soccer equipment lying around?  Poor kids in
Ghana need your stuff!  Please bring any used cleats, balls, shin
guards and jerseys to the Athletic Director's office before Friday,
November 17th a lunch or after school. They will be shipped to Ghana
for kids to use--help train the next World Cup champions.  


Senior / Junior Section

*1. SENIORS - If you are applying to private colleges that need a
counselor recommendation, your envelopes and forms are due in D221 no
later than November 9th.  Questions?  See Mr. Saraceno, Ms. Harris,
or Mrs. Abrams.

*2. Brown University is offering current 10th, 11th and 12th graders
with strong interest in biology or the physical sciences the
opportunity to study volcanoes, marine science and rainforest ecology
in Hawaii.  There are two trips:  April 6-13 and April 15-22.  For

are interested.  Deadline: January 31, 2007.

3. College visits to Berkeley High - Seniors: Sign up in D221 to
attend college presentations. You must also pick up an authorization
form for your teacher to sign so that you may miss his or her class.

Events / Performances

1. Drinking, doping, and Driving: what are the costs?  December is
National Drugged and Drunk Driving Prevention Month, and the Health
Center is sponsoring a poster essay contest to bring awareness to the
consequences of drinking and doing drugs and driving.  Check out the
prompt in the health center lobby and submit a poster essay contest

certificate for a free Chiptole burrito, and one applicants poster
will be featured throughout the city of Berkeley.

2. Spirit of Berkeley High - Celebrity Showdown Weekend Benefit
Friday, November 10 - MTV's Wild 'n Out cast hosted by TK Carter
featuring Spanky Hayes, Shorty Short, Dee Ray and Corey Holcomb
Berkeley Community Theater 8 pm.  Special pre-sell BHS Students
tickets, $25.00. Purchase at BHS Athletic Directors office at lunch
and after school, this week!  Tickets go on sale to the public
October 21st on TicketWeb.com - under "Search For Tickets" put:
Berkeley Community Theater.  Prices are: $22.50 balcony, $27.50 back,
$37.50 front, $40.00 pit.
	Saturday, November 11 - BHS Football games and celebrities
Basketball. BHS JV and Varsity Football against El Cerrito, 11 am and
1pm BHS Girls basketball team will be scrimmaging Ursaline HS in
Donahue.


Sales

*1. Come support Winterball!  Come to the Winterball bakesale on
Monday, November 6th at the Senior steps and indulge in lots of
delicious homemade cookies, cupcakes, and other baked goods.  All
proceeds will go to funding Winterball on January 27th.

2. Prices are $75.00 for yearbooks until November, Thanksgiving
holiday and then will be set at $80.00.  Financial Assistance is
available to those who qualify.  See Mr. Knight during 7th in H102 to
apply.
