FOR SENIORS
Mr. Saraceno and I will be putting up new appointment sign-up sheets at
8:00 am on Tuesday, October 24. If you have not yet signed up for an
appointment with one of us, come by the College/Career Center to make
an appointment!

This is Spirit Week and we want you to have a good time. However,
remember that colleges are not sympathetic to seniors whose grades drop
or who have suspensions on their record. A recent article in the San
Francisco Chronicle underscores this point. “[Jim Blackburn, a CSU
enrollment director] said that the university rescinded about two dozen
acceptance letters at each campus for this year, and sometimes more,
including 63 at San Francisco State University and 43 at Cal Poly San
Luis Obispo. UC Berkeley canceled 37 offers of admission. UCLA
canceled 73 freshman offers.” Go to
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/10/10/
BAGL9LLT7J1.DTL to see what colleges have to say.

If you are applying Early Action or Early Decision to any colleges and
have not yet turned in your envelopes so that we can mail your
counselor recommendation, please see Ms. Abrams or Ms. Harris in the
College/Career Center immediately.

Get help with your college essay or personal statement! Beginning this
week, there will be essay readers available in D221 every day from 8:00
to 9:00 am and at lunch time and on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
after school. These readers are a great help and give you a new
perspective on your essay.
