STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration

1. BSEP Meeting on Wednesday, October 11th from 4:30 - 6:00 PM in
conference room B.  Agenda items:  Members and alternates
pick up name tags and handouts.  Establish a quorum.  Approval of
minutes; Approval of Agenda- Additions; Chair report; Elect
Chairperson; Select 4 rep to the BSEP Planning and Oversight; Select
2 representation to Shared Government; Plan for evaluation; Set
upcoming meetings

2. Staff Development day is today, October 9th.  No school for students.

3. If you are teenager who owes money to the Berkeley public Library,
we will forgive your fines in exchange for a bit of reading.  Read
1-2 hours on Tuesday October 17 or Wednesday, October 18 from 3:30 -
5:30 pm.  Come to the Central Library's  3rd floor meeting room.
Individual cases may vary.  Sorry, we cannot erase fines for

4. Homecoming Royalty applications at the front desk.  Due Wednesday,
October 11th.

5. BHS 2006 Spirit Week is October 16-20t  Dress days are as follows:
Monday: Super Hero Day;   Tuesday: Celebrity Day
Wednesday: Western Day;  Thursday: Seniors-80’s Day/ underclassmen wear
Pajamas;  Friday: Red and Gold Day (Homecoming Day)

6. Students and staff, please check the Parent Resource Center for lost
items- Items will be kept for a 2 month period.  All items not claimed
will be donated to a shelter for persons in need.  If anyone lost a ring
please contact the Parent Center in room D224 or call 644-8524.

7. Earn community service for a college resume by planting and
cleaning up the courtyards of BHS. Monday, October 9th from 9-5pm,
rain or shine.  You can come and leave any time between!  All BUSD
students and their parents welcome.  Meet at the main entrance.

8. Job openings:
City of Berkeley YouthWorks Program will pass out Applications for
after school jobs:  Contact 981-4970 for more information. Go to 1947
Center St (basement). All Berkeley Residents, only ages 14-19.

Clubs

Sports

1. Potential Basketball Players- you must have a physical in order
to try out for the team.  Try-outs will begin November 6th.

2. All girls interested in playing club softball this fall may
contact Coach Run Hunt at 1-800-826-9950 or come out to practice
every Wednesday and Friday from 4-6 PM at Grove Park. We also
practice on Monday 10/2, 10/23, and 10/30.  All girls are encouraged
to come out and play ball.

Senior / Junior Section

1. ESSAY Writing workshops:  You must sign up in D221 to attend.
        October 10, 7:30 am in the College Career Center.
        October 11, 3:30 pm in Conference room A.  More to come.

2. Seniors!  The Last day to take Senior portraits and have your
picture in the yearbook is October 28th.  Call ABC Harrell or go to
their website to make your appointment.

3. Senior weekend and baby pictures are due October 27th.  Please put
them in a self addressed stamped envelope with your name on the back.
High resolution CD are accepted.  Please turn in to the main office.

*4. College visits to Berkeley High--Seniors: Sign up in D221 to
attend college presentations. You must also pick up an authorization
form for your teacher to sign so that you may miss class.

Events/ Performances

Sales

*1. Bart Tickets orders will be taken on October 26th and 27th at
lunchtime.  Please listen for location of orders to be taken.  Tickets are
$16.00 cash each and are valued at $32.00.  All sales are CASH ONLY.
Please bring exact amount for each ticket.  No checks please!

2. Yearbooks will be on sale during 7th period today.  Price is set
at $65.00, check, money order or cash only.  You can purchase them in
H102.

3. Letter jacket sales go on every lunch and immediately after school
during the first week of October.  Jackets are available for sizing.
Letters and insignias may be purchased directly from the athletic
office.  Anyone may purchase a jacket, but you must have earned an
athletic letter in order to purchase one.  Jackets are available in
red w/ cream or black w/ black sleeves.  Price includes your name and
all insignias sewn in. Approximate cost is $170 per jacket.
