Administration

*1. Mandatory Leadership meeting for all leadership officers, BSEP
Officers, Site Council Members and Senators today after school at
3:20 in room G210.

2. BHS exit exams - for Juniors and Seniors only.  Wednesday, October
4 for Math.  7:30 am in the Jacket gym for both exams, unless
otherwise instructed.

3. There is NO LATE START today or the rest of this month.

4. Staff Development day is October 9th.  No school for students.

5. Job openings:
City of Berkeley YouthWorks Program will pass out Applications for
after school jobs:  Contact 981-4970 for more information. Go to 1947
Center St (basement). All Berkeley Residents, only ages 14-19.

6. Attention all sophomores and juniors: sign ups for the PSAT
through Friday, October 6th at lunch and after school until 4 PM at
the D building ticket window on Allston way.  The fee for the test is
$22.00 cash or money order payable to Berkeley High School.  The test
is on Saturday, October 21st, 8 AM, here at Berkeley High.

7. BHS 2006 Spirit Week is October 16-20th! Suggestions for Spirit
days and to sign up to participate in your class rally dance, stop by
D148 to submit your suggestions.

8. Lost!  Pink Sanno wallet.  It is very important and if anyone has
information please call 693-2552.


Clubs

1. Earphone English - today at lunch in C116 as usual.  Come check in
with Franchesca, exchange books, or ask any questions you might have.

*2. BSU Meeting today and every Wednesday at lunch in H214.  The
theme for the BSU is "United Consciousness."  Everyone is welcome.
If you are down with unity, you are down with the BSU.  See you
there.

*3. Come to the 1st Asian Pacific Islander Committee meeting in room
C327 at lunch on Thursday.  Come meet new people and learn all about
plans for this year.

*4. There has been a gross over population of cows in America.  Help
ecosystem by going to BBQ club this Friday at lunch.

*5. Are you down with God?  Come to Youth for Christ Fridays at lunch
in G201.

*6. Ping Pong Club every Tuesday and Friday at lunch in the old gym
Ping Pong room.

7. The Hotness is On Rotation: Tuesdays 4-6 The founders and
innovators of Youth Speaks will rotate as facilitators of this very
special poetry workshop.  Each week Youth Speaks staff, alums, and
collaborators will bring their unique curriculum, perspective, and
literally fire to the sessions.  Facilitators: Workshop leaders will
include Khalil Anthony, Michelle "Mush" Lee, Berkeley High grads,
Rafael Casal and Chinaka Hodge, and Youth Speaks Founder, James Kass.
But you'll have to show up to see who is teaching, and to learn, for
certain, what the hotness is.  Room C324.

Sports

1. Attention all JV Football Parents: Please come to a meeting at
6:00 before the JV dinner on Thursday, 10/5 in the old gym.  Contact
Cindy Cudjo for information at 228-9335.

2. All girls interested in playing BHS basketball should come to an
informational meeting in the Old Gym Social Hall Thursday 10/6 at
3:30 pm.

3. Come play for the Berkeley High Ultimate Frisbee Team.  Everyone's
welcome.  Freshman through Seniors, boys and girls.  Tryouts are
after school, Friday, October 6th from 4 to 6.  Don't miss it.

4. All girls interested in playing club softball this fall may
contact Coach Run Hunt at 1-800-826-9950 or come out to practice
every Wednesday and Friday from 4-6 PM at Grove Park. We also
practice on Monday 10/2, 10/23, and 10/30.  All girls are encouraged
to come out and play ball.

Senior / Junior Section

1. ESSAY Writing workshops:  You must sign up in D221 to attend.
       October 5, 7:30 am in the College Career Center.
       October 10, 7:30 am in the College Career Center.
       October 11, 3:30 pm in Conference room A.  More to come.

2. Senior weekend and baby pictures are due October 27th.  Please put
them in a self addressed stamped envelope with your name on the back.
High resolution CD are accepted.  Please turn in to the main office.

3. College visits to Berkeley High--Seniors: Sign up in D221 to
attend college presentations. You must also pick up an authorization
form for your teacher to sign so that you may miss class.

Events/ Performance

*1. Wassup Berkeley High! Today is Youth Together's Unity Day.  Come
out to the community steps.  We're going to have Danza perform for
us, as well as the Afro-Haitian dancers, poetry and so much more.
Come through in Unity.

*2. Please bring friends, relatives and colleagues to the Little
Theater at 7:00 pm this Thursday, October 5, for the big screen debut
of the MexEx 2006 videos, filmed in Morella, Michoacan by CAS
students this summer.  International  trips are a very important part
of CAS.  Six short films. Questions and Answers with the student
filmmakers afterwards.  $5 - $10 sliding scale, BHS students are
free.  Food and drinks for sale.

3.  Can you get through Berkeley High?  Come and find out--experience
"High School" our Fall play.  Created by Antenna Theatre it is a
journey through the school listening to a soundtrack of student
interviews, music, and sound effects.  It's a real trip, an
unforgettable experience.  Each journey lasts 45 minutes. Reserve
your spot.


Sales

*1. Yearbooks will be on sale during 7th period today.  Price is set
at $65.00, check, money order or cash only.  You can purchase them in
H102.

2. Letter jacket sales go on every lunch and immediately after school
during the first week of October.  Jackets are available for sizing.
Letters and insignias may be purchased directly from the athletic
office.  Anyone may purchase a jacket, but you must have earned an
athletic letter in order to purchase one.  Jackets are available in
red w/ cream or black w/ black sleeves.  Price includes your name and
all insignias sewn in. Approximate cost is $170 per jacket.
