SAT WORD OF THE DAY:  TORPOR - a state of physical and mental
inactivity; lethargy.  Soon after the anesthesia began to flow into
his veins, the surgical patient fell into a torpor.  

SENIOR PARENTS - If you missed the College Information Night last

JOB INFORMATION
Albany Physical Therapy is looking for a student to work
approximately six hours per week (two hours per day, Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday) to help with office responsibilities.  They offer flexible
hours and job training. Wages:  $6.75 per hour.  For more

Looking for a job?  Berkeley Public Library is hiring 5 student
workers. These jobs involve assisting Teen Services librarians in a
variety of tasks and working with library materials. The application
period ends on Sept 30, 2006. Pick up and return the completed
applications to the 2nd floor Reference Desk at the Central Library.
You must be at least 16 years old. Successful applicants can expect

SCORE! in Albany is seeking Advantage Coaches to join our team and
help us fulfill our mission. SCORE! helps children of all learning
levels, K-10, make academic progress in a fun and motivating
environment.  SCORE! Advantage Coaches: Serve as academic role
models, explain math, reading and supplemental subject concepts
clearly while encouraging students to build confidence.  The
Requirements are: being an excellent role model, 3.0 GPA or higher,
completion of Algebra II math course, strong aptitude and enthusiasm
for working with children, weekday and/or weekend availability, 10 or

*PSAT - Attention all sophomores and juniors:  Sign-ups for the PSAT
will begin on Wednesday, September 27 and will continue through

building ticket window on Allston Way. The fee for the test is $22.00

also pick up an authorization form for your teacher to sign so that
you may miss his or her class.  This is a great opportunity to find

SCHOLARSHIPS
High school seniors who are exceptional in the arts are encouraged to
apply for the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts'
renowned Arts Recognition and Talent Search, which awards
scholarships of up to $10,000. The program rewards students
nationwide in various categories: dance, film and video, classical,
pop and jazz, photography, theater, visual arts, voice and writing.
Participating students receive scholarships ranging from $500 to
$10,000. The registration deadline is Oct. 2 and the deadline to
submit audition and portfolio materials is Nov. 1. Students can

SunTrust Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes - $1,000 scholarship

Horatio Alger Association - Open to seniors graduating in 2007 who
plan to start college in the fall with gross family income under
$50,000 and a minimum GPA of 2.0.  Must be a US citizen or permanent
