Administration

*1. The healthy snack bar will open in the BHS food court beginning 
September 27th. The hours will be  7a.m. until 2.p.m.  All choices 
will be healthy- focusing on smoothies, juices, water, and many other 
healthy snacks.  We will serve  coffee for adults- and non 
caffeinated beverages for students.  Grab and go sandwiches and salads

2. The organizers were delivered without the ruler.  Stop by the 
front desk to pick up your rulers now!

3. BART Tickets are here!  Pick them up today.

4. Education 1 is a Berkeley City College Course offered at Berkeley 
High for Berkeley High Students (10th grade and above).  Tuesdays and 
Thursdays during 7th period in room H112.  Get college credits (3 
units).  Learn about schools/ teaching and ways to make education 
better.

5. BHS ID and Make-Up Pictures are scheduled for Monday, September 
25, 2006 at lunch and after school in the Community Theater.

6. BHS 2006 Spirit Week is October 16-20th! Suggestions for Spirit 
days and to sign up to participate in your class Rally dance, stop by 
D148 to submit your suggestions.

7. Job openings:  Reliable, student needed to help with filing and 
other office work in a small law office in Emeryville, 8-10 hours per 
week, preferably two days a week.  $10 per hour.  For more

A student from Saudi Arabia, taking UC classes, is looking for a 
tutor to help him with his English and practice conversation with

Clubs

*1. The Japanese club will meet Mondays and Thursdays at lunch in 
C334, if you're interested in the language, or just want to stop by 
and see what it's like, anyone is welcome.

*2. Seniors!  Bring your summer weekend and baby pictures to be 
featured in the Berkeley High yearbooks.  Pictures must be labeled 
with your full name and be in self addressed stamped envelope in 
order to get them back.  You can bring prints  or a CD with high 
resolution pictures to the main
office.  Deadline to turn photos in is October 27th- firm!

3.	Thursday is the last day to apply for the Health center Youth 
Advisory Board.  Do not miss this opportunity to be more involved on 
campus and to give input to the health center.  Pick up an 
application at the health
center today!

4.  Does your mom drive a Volvo?  Then Jewish Student Union is for 
you come to A105 on Friday, September 22nd at lunch to meet friendly 
jews like yourself.

5. Do you want to make a difference and meet new people?  Then come 
join Best Buddies!  The first informational meeting is Tuesday, 
September 19th in H106.

6. The Domino Club will meet every Monday after school in C311 from 
3:30-5:00PM.  Dominoes will be provided.  If you just like to play or 
if think you got game, There is no commitment, just show up and have 
a good time.


Sports

1. Girls Golf is still accepting athletes through next week.  Girls 
field hockey and cross country are full now.

2. You can still join the crew team, no tryouts, just come to 
practices and talk to the coaches. Meet at the ERG room which is 
closest to the softball field at 4 PM.

1.	Seniors!  Be sure to get your senior portraits taken by the 
end of October to make sure you are in the yearbook.  Photos must be 
taken with ABC Harrell to get into the BHS yearbook.

2. All senior portrait appointments for dates 9/25 - 9/27 have been

attend college presentations. You must also pick up an authorization

4. SCORE!  In Albany is seeking Advantage Coaches to join our team 
and help us fulfill our mission.  SCORE! Helps children of all 
learning levels, K-10, make academic progress in a fun and motivating 
environment.  For more information contact the center at

5. CSF Community service- if you want to join CSF, three hours of 
community service and $15 of fundraising are required.  The community 
service hours cannot substitute or overlap with math class tutoring. 
The deadline to complete your community service hours is January 24,

6. FOR SENIORS:  Do you need help feedback on your Senior Profile or 
college essay draft? Essay readers will be available in D221  on 
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at lunchtime only.  We are 
starting with one reader and will expand times and number of readers 
the week of September 25.

7. College Information Day: Saturday, September 30 from 8:30 to 1:00 
at UC Berkeley Wheeler Hall. Over 60 public and private college 
university representatives will be available to speak with you about 
their colleges.

8. FREE SAT PREP class- People's Test Preparation service is offering 
a free class to BHS students.  Class will be held on Tuesdays and 
Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 in room H206.  One day will focus on the 
Critical Reading section and the other day will focus on math.  The 
first class will be on Wednesday, September 20.  No sign up necessary.
