Administration
1. Paper copies of the bulletin are in the
office, College Career Center, and in the Parent
Resource Center.
2. The organizers were delivered without the
ruler. Stop by the front desk to pick up your
rulers now!
3. BART Tickets are here! Pick them up today.
4. Education 1 is a Berkeley City College Course
offered at Berkeley High for Berkeley High
Students (10th grade and above). Tuesdays and
Thursdays during 7th period in room H112. Get
college credits (3 units). Learn about schools/
teaching and ways to make education better.
5. BHS ID and Make-Up Pictures are scheduled for
Monday, September 25, 2006 at lunch and after
school in the Community Theater.
6. BHS 2006 Spirit Week is October 16-20th!
Suggestions for Spirit days and to sign up to
participate in your class Rally dance, stop by
D148 to submit your suggestions.
7. Job openings: Reliable, student needed to
help with filing and other office work in a small
law office in Emeryville, 8-10 hours per week,
preferably two days a week. $10 per hour. For

to our first meeting this Wednesday, September

Clubs
*1. Youth for Christ is back! Come to our first
meeting today at lunch. Make new friends and
help plan out the year. Everyone is welcome.
*2. Does your mom drive a Volvo? Then Jewish
Student Union is for you come to A105 on Friday,
September 22nd at lunch to meet friendly jews
like yourself.
*3. Do you want to make a difference and meet new
people? Then come join Best Buddies! The first
informational meeting is Tuesday, September 19th
in H106.
*4. Youth Together is back and ready to take
action. Come to A205 every Thursday to learn
your student rights, how to organize and take
action.
*5. BHS Culture and Exchange club. 1st meeting
of the year! Come meet students from different
countries. Practice your Spanish and other
languages. Come to C105 Friday at lunch see Ms.
Friedman or Mr. Berkman for details.
*6. The Domino Club will meet every Monday after
school in C311 from 3:30-5:00PM. Dominoes will
be provided. If you just like to play or if
think you got game, There is no commitment, just
show up and have a good time.
Sports
*1. Girls Golf is still accepting athletes
through next week. Girls field hockey and cross
country are full now.
2. You can still join the crew team, no tryouts,
just come to practices and talk to the coaches.
Meet at the ERG room which is closest to the
softball field at 4 PM.
3. The Yellowjackets host their first home
football game this year versus Foothill. JV
Thursday at 5:00; Varsity on Friday at 5:00;
Ticket prices for Thursday games are $3 students/
$5 adult. Friday games are $4/$6. Berkeley High
Staff get in free with their ID. Go Jackets.

CSF, three hours of community service and $15 of
fundraising are required. The community service
hours cannot substitute or overlap with math

your Senior Profile or college essay draft?
Essay readers will be available in D221 on
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at lunchtime
only. We are starting with one reader and will
expand times and number of readers the week of
September 25.
*5. College and Recruitment Fair- Sunday,
September17, 10:00 AM- 2:00 PM, JF Kennedy HS
(4300 Cutting Blvd, Richmond). "On the spot"
admission, scholarships and financial aid
information. Many historically Black colleges
and Universities, UC's, Cal States and other
colleges will be present. Seniors bring copies
of your transcript and ACT/SAT scores for each
college application you plan to complete. For

6. College Information Day: Saturday, September
30 from 8:30 to 1:00 at UC Berkeley Wheeler Hall.
Over 60 public and private college university
representatives will be available to speak with
you about their colleges.
7. Seniors! Be sure to get your senior portraits
taken by the end of October to make sure you are
in the yearbook. Photos must be taken with ABC
Harrell to get into the BHS yearbook.
8. All senior portrait appointments for dates
9/25 - 9/27 have been filled. Please go to

9. FREE SAT PREP class-- People's Test
Preparation service is offering a free class to
BHS students. Class will be held on Tuesdays and
Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 in room H206. One
day will focus on the Critical Reading section
and the other day will focus on math. The first
class will be on Wednesday, September 20. No
sign up necessary.
10. Scholarships: Sinkler Miller Medical
Association Scholarship- open to African American
residents of the San Francisco Bay Area
graduating in 2007 with a minimum GPA of 3.0 with
financial need. Scholarships range from $1,000 to
$5,000. Applications available in D221.
Deadline: September 15.
Events / Performances
1. "I Love You, Youre Perfect, Now Change"
continues this weekend at 8 PM Friday and
Saturday in the BHS Little Theater. Student
prices: $6 on Friday, $10 Saturday. Saturday show
is followed by GALA featuring Scottish music,
free refreshments and a raffle.
