Administration
*1. Paper copies of the bulletin are in the office, College Career
Center, and in the Parent Resource Center.
*2. Sophomore dance rally practice today: be there on time. Come
with a positive attitude and ready to dance.
*3. Job openings: Reliable, student needed to help with filing and
other office work in a small law office in Emeryville, 8-10 hours per
week, preferably two days a week. $10 per hour. For more

A student from Saudi Arabia, taking UC classes, is looking for a
tutor to help him with his English and practice conversation with

5. BHS ID and Make-Up Pictures are scheduled for Monday, September
25, 2006 at lunch and after school in the Community Theater.
6. BHS 2006 Spirit Week is October 16-20th! Suggestions for Spirit
days and to sign up to participate in your class Rally dance, stop by
D148 to submit your suggestions.
7. Students interested in joining the Academic Choice student
leadership committee, please come to our first meeting today,
September 13th at lunch in room C213.
Clubs
*1. Youth Together is back and ready to take action. Come to A205
every Thursday to learn your student rights, how to organize and take
action.
*2. BHS Culture and Exchange club. 1st meeting of the year! Come
meet students from different countries. Practice your Spanish and
other languages. Come to C105 Friday at lunch see Ms. Friedman or
Mr. Berkman for details.
*3. The Domino Club will meet every Monday after school in C311 from
3:30-5:00PM. Dominoes will be provided. If you just like to play or
if think you got game, There is no commitment, just show up and have
a good time.
*4. Are you interested in culture, history, politics, economics or
the world at large? Come join Model United Nations. It's a lot of
fun and it looks great on college applications. We meet every other
Thursday at lunch starting this Thursday, September 14th. Come join
us in understanding the world's problems.
*5. This Friday, September 15th, BBQ Club tryouts in G105 at lunch.
Bring a pencil and a piece of paper. Seniors only please.
6. PASSHEN (Peers Advocating Safety and Sexual Health education now!)
is recruiting new peer educators. Pick up your application in H105
(Health center) today. Deadline is Sept. 14th.
7. Come join La Raza club to have a different learning experience, to
explore a different culture or get in touch with your roots. Do it
having fun. Join our dance classes and meetings on Wednesdays at
3:30PM in room C124.
Sports
1. Students interested in Berkeley Crew should plan on attending an
informational meeting for new and returning rowers on Wed. Sept.13 at
4:20 PM at the BHS stadium bleachers. BHS Crew has men's and women's
teams, and no previous rowing experience is required. Visit our web

2. Boys open gym Basketball begins this week in the old gym social
hall from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Optional conditioning workouts for all boys on Tuesday and Thursday
in the weight room. All currently enrolled BHS boys are invited to
attend.
3. Girls open gym basketball begins the week of September 18th on
Tuesdays and Thursdays in the old gym social hall from 4:00 - 6:00
PM. Optional conditioning workout for girls on Monday and Wednesday
on the track at 4:00 PM. All currently enrolled BHS girls are invited
to attend.
4. The field hockey and Cross-Country teams are still accepting
athletes. You must bring a complete athletic packet to workout. The
field hockey team practices Monday- Friday from 6-8 PM on the turf.
See the coaches asap if you want to sign up. Cross country works out
daily from 4-6 on the track. See Coach Dave Goodrich if you have
questions.
Senior / Junior Section
*1. College Information Day: Saturday, September 30 from 8:30 to 1:00
at UC Berkeley Wheeler Hall. Over 60 public and private college
university representatives will be available to speak with you about
their colleges.
*2. Seniors! Be sure to get your senior portraits taken by the end
of October to make sure you are in the yearbook. Photos must be
taken with ABC Harrell to get into the BHS yearbook.
3. All senior portrait appointments for dates 9/25 - 9/27 have been

section / Future appointment link to signup for notification of the
next available schedule appointments.
4. College visits to Berkeley High-- Seniors: Sign up in D221 to
attend college presentations. You must also pick up an authorization
form for your teacher to sign so that you may miss his or her class.

5. FREE SAT PREP class-- People's Test Preparation service is
offering a free class to BHS students. Class will be held on
Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 in room H206. One day will
focus on the Critical Reading section and the other day will focus on
math. The first class will be on Wednesday, September 20. No sign
up necessary.
6. JESUIT COLLEGE FAIR- Thursday, September 14, 7:00 - 9:00 PM. St
Ignatius College Prep,
2001 - 37th Avenue, San Francisco. Representatives from 17 Jesuit
colleges will be present to talk with
you and provide information. These include: Fordham University,
Loyola Marymount, Loyola University Chicago, Santa Clara University,
Seattle University, and many more.
7. Scholarships: Sinkler Miller Medical Association Scholarship- open
to African American residents of the San Francisco Bay Area
graduating in 2007 with a minimum GPA of 3.0 with financial need.
Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000. Applications available in
D221. Deadline: September 15.
Events / Performances
1. A Berkeley High Musical in September? Yep! The heartbreaking
comedy about relationships, "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change"
continues this Friday and Saturday at 8 PM at the Little Theatre. All
proceeds benefit our trip to Scotland in August. Hope to see you there.
